Wake up to the sounds of nature on this serene, private property spanning 50 acres in the gorgeous Finger Lakes region of New York.
Woodsedge Retreat offers seclusion yet it is only a minute from the hamlet of Honeoye and 30 miles from the city of Rochester, NY. Sandy Bottom Park/Beach and Nature Trail is just down the road and offers fishing and swimming on the shores of Honeoye Lake.
You’ll have a hard time deciding whether to pitch your tent on the rolling fields or sleep in the rustic cabin - called the Love Shack - tucked into a corner near the pond. We chose the cute cabin and dreamt of our own future tiny house. Although it was only the two of us, this would be a great spot for large group camping.
We spent most of our time wandering the property, and sitting around and cooking over the campfire (there is also a propane grill available for use). The birch pergola also caught our attention as we imagined a celebrating an event in this peaceful setting. It’s an added bonus that the helpful and friendly host, Kip, is an officiant!
Go back to basics, take delight in the lack of electricity and the use of an outhouse (porta-potty), and just get away from it all.

The Woodsedge Retreat is a couples dream. If you are looking for a getaway in the wilderness this is the place to be! My boyfriend and I came here to spend our anniversary and we did not want to leave! First of all its private property with a gate it really makes you feel like home.. Now we thought that there would be other people camping on the land,, No me and my man had a whole 50 acres to ourselves and boy did we take advantage.. The Love Shack is hidden in a nice bed of trees, in a hidden private area by a pond, with a view of beautiful fields of scenery... There is no electricity , but that didnt bother us we weren't there for that ( we also brought portable chargers in case.) There is also a water spigot which was convenient cause we were able to fill up our bucket for dishes as well as our 5 gallon shower! We hung it from a tree and shared 2 very wonderful showers out in the wilderness with no one in sight! We had a blast and this place was beautiful. It exceeded our expectations.. Kip our host was a very friendly and cool guy. We chatted with him and he made sure our stay was private and unforgettable. He Also suggested Harriet Hollister State Park which over looks a mountain and that was an amazing view definitely check it out.. We will be back again.
The place is even more stunning than we expected it to be. Super adorable decor inside the Love Shack, on a serene private lot surrounded by nature. Be mindful in cooler months it does get cold. Loved our stay, would come back ! Kip was a great host. He recommended us some awesome stops including a brewery down the road his son just opened. The beer and food there was astoundingly amazing. We were so impressed with the flavors. Definitely check it out - we had the paprikash and the Korean tacos! Also be sure to go Sandy Bottom Beach, just down the road. Also recommend to those staying here check out the viewpoint in Harriet Spencer Park, and the Gorge & Hemlock trail (on AllTrails not the official park trail) in Letchworth State Park. ABest surprise of the property? BABY GOATS!
Beautiful! Kip was there to greet us upon arrival. The cottage was adorable and the property beautifully maintaine the property's was secluded and private, but also close to town at the same time. I would definitely stay again!

My boyfriend and I had an incredible time at Woodsedge retreat. We stayed in the cabin and it was a perfect, easy getaway. We brought wood for a fire and watched the stars come out as the moon set. Kip was extremely helpful and super friendly. We've already recommended the place to our friends. If you're only there for a night, bring an extra gallon of water. There's a pump, but it might be easier to have your own. Wish we could have stayed for longer!
My boyfriend and I spent a couple nights at the love shack for Labor Day weekend. This might've been the best camping trip I've ever had. The cabin is secluded with everything you could ever want while camping. From the cozy cabin and fire pit to the lack of electricity I didn't want to go home. We will definitely be back. Thanks kip for supplying us with everything we needed and more.
We really enjoyed our stay at the "Love Shack"! Kip was very responsive and helpful about answering any questions we had. My husband and I (and our dog, Epi) only had time to stay for a night but we would've happily stayed longer if we could've. We were warned by Kip that the cabin was "rustic" (no heat/electricity) ahead of time. So I had low expectations, but the "shack" was bigger than I thought it was going to be, with a full sized bed, couch and a little table and chairs. It was very clean! The views of the open field, surrounding pine trees and quiet little pond were wonderful. We loved the privacy that the little campsite provided. We will definitely plan to return!
Kip's site was an amazing weekend get away. We had the entire 50 acres to ourselves, which we absolutely loved. But, not more than my puppy did, that's for sure. We drive down the road to the beach and dipped our toes in, hiked in the near by park, and made a fire with the wood Kip was kind enough to drop by for us. The cabin was bigger than I expected, but still small and quaint. My girlfriend and I are planning to make a trip up to Kip's place a yearly tradition!
