Pitch your tent and climb our mountain if you like, there are several peaks with awesome views. Bikers and bicyclers will love the local roads, mountain bikers may enjoy our many trails. You can pitch your tent on a grassy field near the restrooms and shower building or climb up the mountain and rough it a bit on a mossy peak or outcropping. Bring your fishing gear, we have a mile of frontage on the Ausable river, and a mile of brook with a neat beaver pond. We have lived here almost fifty years so we know lots about the area and can help you find things only locals know about, swimming holes and whatnot.
there is lots of room with nearly 500 acres, if you want to pitch your tent farther away from facilities. We will have a portable eco toilet on hand should you wish to camp too far from the bathroom.

Beautiful farm in the adirondacks
We had a nice time staying at Willow Hill Farm! Located at the top of the Adirondack Mountains, the beauty is endless. The location was super easy to get to and you get to see the farm animals along the way, and you pass the Ausable River on the drive in. When we arrived we learned that the actual host was away for the time-being and his sister seemed to be managing the farm and hipcamp reservations. That was fine with us, since she was very accommodating and easy to talk to. She showed us around and gave us options for sites to camp. We parked with our camper van at the first open field going up on the mountain where the farm resides. It had 2 older cabins and a bathhouse cabin with toilets, sinks and showers. People weren’t really interested in staying in the cabins, which were typical camping cabins with electric, but they were available if you wanted to stay. Having the bathhouse was a nice surprise and was in decent condition. The first night there was just one other group that camped on the same open field as us, at the other end. The next night it seemed like 5 or more groups had booked and arrived In the nearby areas. The only negative about this listing was that the sites weren’t as spread out as we had hoped, once more people started booking. Our second night consisted of 4 groups in our open field, each in their own corner. Thankfully everyone was respectful, cool and nice so we didn’t really mind it. I will say the host did make sure each site was happy- she came and made a camp fire for each new spot we had made and brought up extra chairs. Although we look for more privacy while camping, it didn’t really bother us because of how nice everyone was. Beyond the first open field, there was another one but it was not as well maintained. Grass was higher and there was heavy machinery and logs within sight as they were doing work up there. I thought the hosts could improve the other sites to make more options like it said were available on the listing, that would be the only suggestion. As far as activities in the area, there’s lots you can do- we were able to hike a well-known mountain (poke-o-moonshine) within 19 mins. driving but there are many others we didn’t explore. You can even hike on the actual mountain where the site is and just ask the host and she will give you any pointers you need. Ausable river is within walking distance and u get to see the farm animals along the way. We were able to swim in the river which was nice, and there’s an area you can relax on some flat rocks along the edge. The hosts have around 40 horses, goats, chickens, a donkey and a few farm dogs- All animals seemed very happy and cared for which was great to see. The farm is beautiful. The dogs which free roam (and even may come to visit your camp here and there) were all very nice and got along well with our pup that we brought. I would recommend staying here- the price is right and the beauty of the adirondacks and farm life is amazing. It’s great to have hosts that are readily available and you can ask anything too! They even gave us some fresh farm eggs to take home since they had a surplus. Thanks again, Willow Hill :)
Great potential! / awesome host!
The location we stayed at is on the property of a large horse ranch, specifically on a field where summer camps have been held for a very long time. Other sites were available but we chose to stay near the cabins/bath house. Ken was great and helped us with fire wood and our firepit. There is great potential on this site to be a very special hipcamp experience. If you like horses, the Ausable river and a nostalgic camp feel, this place is the place to camp! Looking forward to how this place develops in the future!
Ken and his sister made sure we arrived and had what we needed to stay a night in winter. They communicated with us often and were genuinely interested in what we were hoping to do in the area. I would like to return to see their extensive property in the warm weather and be able to hike from their property.
Beautiful camp in adk high peaks
Host Ken was out of town during our stay but he still managed to be very responsive and made sure we were taken care of. He let his sister, Tara, know that we were staying at their campground and she was able to show us around the farm. The site at Willow Hill is available mostly year-round and we decided to set up camp outside on the gazebo. Because it was still winter, the facilities in the bath house weren’t available yet. However, Tara was very friendly and let us use the bathroom in the farm house the following day for a much-needed shower. We would have liked to have stayed longer and explore Willow Hill’s trails with views of the Adirondacks, but scheduling conflicts unfortunately prevented this. Even though it was March, we had a great time camping there and would love to come back in the warmer months!
A hidden gem
Willow Hill Farm is a very cute little camp it’s super n the woods behind a very beautiful horse farm. It’s only 15 mins maybe 20 with traffic to beautiful state parks. Lake Champlain is a must stop if your going to camp here. It’s breathtaking. It has a creek just down the road that would be great for tubing. We booked site 10 for one night and love it so much we stayed 2 more nights.
The camp is a summer girls horse camp, the cabins tell such a story when you walk in. I highly recommend coming to visit. My only Criticism would be that they should have cleaned the bathrooms and shower stalls before we got there. It looked like the girls left all of there things there and just never came back. Like an old abandoned camp. Luckily all the cleaning supplies were right there so I just cleaned two stalls with in the bathrooms and shower area and it totally fine.
The Showers are AMAZING!! They stay hot for a while. After a action packed day taking a hot shower is much needed. You really do get sooo much for your money, so the little things that lack make it so much worth it.
