The ultimate in social distancing. As close to pure wilderness as it gets unless you're some place on the tundra. Hidden mountain valley. Wildlife. Trout fishing. Utter privacy. The only sounds being the wind, the birds, yourself, and the brook rushing right next to your site.

No cabin. Need tent or sleep under the stars.  Campfire/cook fire A-OK. Hospital style commode.

More Info: Campers ought to be aware that black bears live in these mountains. In fact, these mountains constitute  the largest denning area in the Catskills. Not likely to see one unless it's running away from you. Except at meal time, or if you don't put the food back in the container.  Not likely, but food is an attraction.

Bear proof food container and bear spray at site.

West Kill Brewery & Spruceton Bed and Bar half mile up the road.

This is a great primitive campsite! If you’re looking for peace and quiet and the basics this is ideal.

What a beautiful camp site! The mountain views, the stars, the nearby creek, the fire pit, so beautiful. We relaxed in hammocks in the woods by camp and down by the creek (which we also filtered for water, it tasted great!). Stephen was great, really nice guy and very helpful. Greeted us at his house and gave instructions while maintaining good social distance. He has cute dogs!

We didn’t realize we could drive up to the site, which was definitely convenient, but our rental car did struggle to get there, you’re driving up hill on grass FYI.

We did see a bear near camp (which bolted as soon as it saw us), but we did appreciate the bear canister and the bear mace that comes with the site. They are definitely around!

We were a little surprised at how much noise we could hear at the site. I think the neighbors are doing some kind of construction / there’s an industrial site next door. Definitely not the peace and quiet we were expecting, lots of truck sounds and construction like noises. It didn’t last all weekend, but it was pretty irritating. We could also hear people talking, never saw them but could hear them. This site is visually lovely, but definitely didn’t sound particularly remote so know that going in.

There’s also some barbed wire right next to the camp site and near the creek. It’s hidden in the leaves, be careful or you’ll miss it like we did (I did cut myself). Maybe Stephen can take care of that soon!

We didn't expect the noise ourselves. Not an industrial site but someone building a home up the next mountain. That accounts for the traffic. It's a pain in he ass, we know. Until recently, if three cars passed our house in an hour we called it gridlock. Construction will be completed soon, we're told. Will get the barbed wire out of there.

Had a great time! Accurate listing. Private, isolated, and stunning property. Steven greeted us and even helped us through car problems. Through this, we met his wonderful family and they were a delight. They gave plenty of suggestions for things to do in the area and they were so accommodating. Just make sure to bring a 4 wheel drive vehicle if you want your car at the site, but walking up to the site is more than doable and actually very enjoyable.
