Secluded hilltop spot - views!
This site is AMAZING! It’s very private and has a gorgeous view...sunsets every night! The property is large enough where I could take my dogs for a nice 30 minute walk each morning. In the afternoons, I drove, 2 minutes down the road to Papscanee Island Nature Reserve, where my dogs could swim in the Hudson River. Everything you need is within a 15 minute drive (seriously, everything). Downtown Albany is just 10 minutes away, as well. Suzy checked in via text and was so kind and accommodating. I travel full-time and this has been my favorite spot so far! Thanks, Suzy!!
We had a nice stay at Someplace Else campsite. Pros: The views and sunset were beautiful. The location is good and very convenient to Albany and surrounding region. The site was well maintained with a firepit and new picnic table. Cons: road noise.
Suzy was a great host and communication was very helpful. Thank you!
Quiet getaway in nature
What a relaxing getaway in a peaceful setting! We stayed two nights in our travel trailer. Suzy met us at the entrance and led us to our wooded site provided all we needed: fire pit with dry firewood, picnic table, and plenty of space. The cut wildflowers in a jar and cute, rustic site signage were thoughtful details that made our experience even more enjoyable. We spent hours exploring the property including the creek and waterfall and ventured out to the nature preserve across the street. We even scooted into Albany for some delicious ice cream. One of the best parts of our trip was sitting by our campfire listening to the peepers late into the night. We highly recommend Someplace Else Camping if you want to disconnect for a while!
The place to camp!!
Someplace Else Camping is THE place to be camping! Part of me doesn't want to tell the world what a fantastic little hideaway this is, but the place is so nice I have to put in a good word. Easily accessed from the Albany region, my wife and I brought our 13' Scamp trailer and kitten to enjoy a weekend in the woods. The campsites are very private, and well spread out throughout the property. Sites are large and well wooded with plenty of shade, a nice size fire ring, picnic table, and more than enough firewood was provided, gratis. The hosts are very nice, showed us to our site, and made us feel welcome on there land. Highly recommendable, peaceful retreat in the forest. Looking forward to our next visit!
Beautiful views + waterfall!
This campsite was everything we could had asked for and more. Beautiful sunset and sunrise views. Communicative host. Free fire wood. And a waterfall that makes the whole experience that much more magical. Will definitely be back soon!
Perfectly groomed campsite!
Such a great campsite! Super clean and great Location. Susan met us with such a warm greeting and took us to our site. It was exactly as described and had a great stack of firewood for us and a fire ready to light in the fire pit. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. We were bummed we had to rush out the next morning to continue our trip. Would have loved to enjoyed the property more.
Great catskills sunset stay
We loved this campsite! The view of the mountains in the distance, especially during sunset, made for a very peaceful evening. Suzy was very communicative and helpful via text before arrival, and gave us tips around exploring the property, including a tucked away steep waterfall. The red path/waterfall walk is a must do! We didn’t find the road noise to be a big deal, however be mindful that the campsite is nestled right above the road. Overall this was a fantastic stay and we’d love to return.
