Less than two hours from New York City, wake to a chorus of birdsong and sip your morning coffee pond-side, as you observe a great blue heron and mallard ducks, or feed a curious school of small fish from the dock.

In addition to their campsite, campers are welcome to visit with our chickens and ducks, play tetherball and other outdoor sports, venture out in a canoe or kayak (provided upon request with life preservers), or go for a hike on or off the property.  Favorite local destinations include Art Omi, Taconic State Park, High Falls, Bash Bish, and Olana.

Located only 4.9 miles from the renowned Hawthorne Valley Farm Store, campers have access to an abundance of locally grown and organic foods throughout their stay, as well as a wide variety of foods available for takeout from nearby Hudson, Chatham, Great Barrington, Hillsdale, or Copake.  Conveniently located almost equidistantly from the quaint and artsy communities of Hudson, Great Barrington, and Chatham, and just a few minutes from the Taconic State Parkway, we are proud to live in an area known for its natural beauty, inspiring views, and diverse mix of locals and transplants.

Nestled in a semi-private meadow on our scenic rural property with one-acre pond, your fully-equipped campsite allows you to enjoy the great outdoors in comfort with minimal fuss.  Perfect for those new to camping or who wish to camp on short notice, as well as those seeking to be immersed in nature in less remote or rugged terrain.

Depending on the number of campers, your spacious tent with overhead lights will contain either one or two queen-sized air mattresses with 600-count linens and blankets, with an extra cot and sleeping bag available upon request.  Lanterns, towels, hand towels, washcloths, and bath soap are also provided.

Your private 12 x 20 kitchen tent comes with tables, grill, camp stove w/propane (1 bottle per day of reservation), pots and pans, cooking and serving utensils, coffee pot and kettle, dishes and cutlery, ice cooler, dish towels, dish soap, sponges, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, and food storage containers.

Folding chairs and a nearby hammock are also provided for your comfort.

Please note that food and ice are not provided.

A dedicated and disinfected handicapped accessible porto-let is provided for your needs, as well as a water tap for all of your drinking, cooking, and bathing needs and a solar shower.  Paper goods, first aid kit, lighter, insect repellent, sunscreen, salt and pepper, and olive oil are also provided.

Our own eggs and produce are available seasonally, and guided hikes and local sightseeing opportunities are available with a NYS licensed guide for an additional fee upon request.  Advance food shopping is also an option.

Please note that we also live on the property, along with our two friendly dogs and three children, who you may hear and see playing from time to time in the yard around our home.  Campers are expected to respect our privacy and not venture onto the lawn area surrounding our home or approach the house without consent.

Please also note that a bear has recently been spotted in the neighborhood.  This is not uncommon in the country, but we urge campers to be on watch and exercise reasonable care.

Due to local and state regulations, safe social distancing practices are observed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The health and safety of our guests is top priority. We also understand the need to connect with nature during these confining times. We are monitoring closely the guidelines of the CDC & WHO, as well as local New York regulations, and are taking the following precautions:

  • Rigorous sanitizing of all surfaces in between guests
  • No shared bathroom facility.
  • Limited access to public & shared spaces.
  • Socially distant check-in.
  • Working to make each accommodation self sufficient, so that guests can feel safe and private.

We loooved our 2 nights camping trip at Heidis campground. Heidis husband Gordon greeted us, took us on a ride on his cool tractor and showed us around. Canoeing on The pond was peaceful. Woke up to beautiful sounds of birds. The place was lit. It was very clean, there’s a waterfall 10 minutes away where we hiked and swam. Gordon and Heidi and their beautiful three kids were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. They live on site but we had our privacy. Definitely coming back with more friends in the future. Thank you Heidi and Gordon for having us. This was our first camping and it was perfect.

What a great location!! Great tent set up with separate cooking tent. Shower and toilet also clean and perfectly distanced from the main tent. Perfect log fire set up and pets are allowed. Hosts are quick to reply online to any questions. All cutlery, cups and plates provided were clean. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
