Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition. The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible three seasons and snowshoe accessible in the winter. There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville.

Our family had a wonderful stay on Sterling Pond. It’s a beautiful property with lots to explore. While there are other houses dotted along the pond, we were pleasantly surprised to find the noise level was quite low & the activity on the water minimal. The cabin was cozy, clean & well maintained. The grounds outside were nicely cleared out, with many level spaces one could pitch a tent if desired. Conveniently, the property has multiple spots to have fires (which were well stocked with wood). There are also several spots to access the water & wild blueberries growing along the shore. We enjoyed the space’s natural beauty & it’s unique antique touches throughout the property.
Columbus day weekend stay
Our 3 day stay at the icehouse camp was wonderful, the owner thought of every little detail to make it a great stay. Though the camp doesn't have electricity it does have a very innovative lighting and stereo setup utilizing batteries. We did not know what we were up against so we brought everything and the kitchen sink, and none of it was needed. The owner provided linens, candles, snacks, potable water in a 5 gallon jug, the stove worked wonderfully, and the woodstove kept us quite warm. the caretaker provided pre-cut wood for our stay, and had three outdoor fire pits with wood already in the pits. The icehouse cabin was wonderful and appears to be winter proofed. The caretakers cabin is in great shape but appears to be in the process of replacing the chinking between the logs. This cabin would be great for anyone to stay in during the hot summer nights.
The two outhouses were very clean and TP and Lye was provided.
Our Aussie was able to roam the property freely, as far as I could tell we were the only one's on our side of the pond. My wife was hooked on fishing, in fact she caught a good sized bass.
Like I said this was a wonderful stay and I highly recommend trying it.
Quiet & beautiful right on the lake
This camp site was amazing! It was private on our side with a few houses on the other, just close enough to see the campfires but far enough to not worry about privacy. Ice House was beautiful with lots of little touches. There was even some bug spray in the corner cabinet and games to play with the kids. The caretaker's cabin was rustic, but the netting worked perfectly. We all had a great time, even during black fly season.
