We’ve built a camp with a covered dry lean-to with a double bed platform inside to put your sleeping bags or to put supplies off the ground and dry. Lots of room for tents. We have a primitive upper camp where you can also put tents for privacy. There’s a teepee kids love, bring a tarp and pad for ground. The campfire has a grill, 2 homemade benches & an Adirondack chair. There is a picnic table. There’s a fun homemade swing & seesaw. We made many marked walking trails around our land to enjoy. There is access to well water. Firewood is available for $5 a bundle. Bring and ace and saw if you want to gather your own only from dead wood that is already on the forest floor. Remember it is wet often. Small wood to gather on the ground can be used for kindling or bring cardboard. Come enjoy. It is very quiet. We are close to Treman, Buttermilk And Taughannock State Parks which all have swimming. Watkins Glen State Park and racetrack is half an hour away. Watkins Glen is breathtakingly magnificent. Also great cross country skiing, walking and hunting nearby at Connecticut Hill. There is downhill skiing at Greek Peak 45 minutes away if you are winter campers. We are 14 miles from Cornell University and 10 miles from Ithaca College. We are between two finger lakes, Cayuga and Seneca, there are 60 wineries and breweries around the lakes.Woman’s Rights National Museum in Seneca Falls, Corning Museum of Glass is fabulous. Ithaca has theatres, museums for art and lots to do for kids like a public pool on the lake. Or simply hang out and enjoy our ten private acres of forest with a creek and pond. What a unique property Bob and Pam have created in their Sanctuary in the Woods! We were excited to stay here before we knew anything about the property, mainly because it is close to Ithaca, and were touring the state parks and waterfalls in the area. We were even more excited to explore the woodland trails, play around on the homemade playground equipment, and hang out in the tipi.

There's plenty of room to roam in these woods, plus a pond to swim in. Bob has built a swing in the trees and even a seesaw to help you feel like a kid again. There's a tipi for sleeping or hanging out, plus an open lean-to with a bed. We chose to set up our own tent and use the lean-to for storing our gear. We only wish we had brought our kids - this is a great camp for families!

What a great site! The site is comfy, quiet, and close to Ithaca and state parks. Both Pam and Bob were extremely nice and took good care of us. To our surprise, we were able to keep our small 3 person tent in the lean-to meaning no rain fly necessary and lots of nice fresh air - definite bonus!

Sanctuary in the Woods was fantastic! Just as advertised, the lean-to was comfortable, and campfire area well designed and easy to use. The campsite was the perfect distance from the house/driveway, far enough to allow for privacy but close enough that it was easy to carry the bags. Pamela was a gracious host. We enjoyed meeting her and would definitely return.

Great spot, great hosts. Even though it rained, the lean-to kept us dry. Would go there again!

Awesome site! Easy to find with GPS. Very short walk from your car to the site. You feel very secluded however you know your so close major highways and towns! I absolutely recommend

The hosts for this site are really nice. It is a bit of a hike up a hill to the site. Unfortunately the night we stayed, it rained and we had to pack out in the dark so the hike was a lot under those conditions. For someone who is looking for a great place to stay with their dog, I think this is pretty sweet. The hosts own 10 acres that you can hike on with your dog. There's a swing that is fun and the hosts have set up the site with benches, a lean-to (which would be sweet for a small tent) and there's a fire ring. They sell firewood for $20 which was a lot for us because the wood was pretty wet and although we did get a fire going, we didn't use a lot of wood. But we did accidentally leave our trash in the rush of getting out in the morning and the hosts were happy to take care of it for us. We would totally stay there again, hopefully on a night that doesn't rain!!

So sorry about the rain Tina, that we can’t help. 😊 In terms of the walk it is quite short yes hilly for sure, yet private from house most agree, that is why we put the campo there; but I guess in the rain carrying things each step one feels. I get it. Ahhh, the joys of camping. Also, it took a while to figure out the wood. Actually, the wood for $20 was usually between $50-$100 dollars of wood in the lean to and some people would burn $100 worth in one night. As Bob cuts it himself we had to change things. Some people wanted just a little, each group used varying amounts.. So now we do bundles for $5 that one pays $8 plus tax for at store for less wood. And people can take as many bundles as they want throughout there stay. We keep them by the house dry. The wood lean to is normally dry but we have to repack the top with leaves and debris yearly and you caught the tail end of that, sorry. So the wood is working well now. Thanks for coming. Lovely to meet you. Come again, free night of wood on us. Best, Pamela and Bob

Pam and Bob's property is super nice: it's surrounded by woods, has sites for several tents, a great fire ring with a grill, a swing and a seesaw. Our group really had a wonderful time, and the kids were infinitely entertained.

Given the lack of a bathroom or running water at the site itself, people should come prepared. Since we knew what we were getting into, this was not a problem for us. The fact that the camp site is a couple hundred yards away from both the parking lot and the Pam & Bob's house is really nice; it affords quite a bit of privacy and a sense of camping in the wild.

Pam and Bob also have ample parking to accommodate vehicles, and the location is convenient for visiting Ithaca and the state parks in the area. Pam takes hosting really seriously and has a ton of information handy regarding touristy things to do in the area - it's great.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this camping spot!
