A pretty intense battle took place at Newton Battlefield State Park during the American Revolution and today the parks serene forest and lush hills attract nature lovers and history buffs alike. Don your wool coat (don’t you look dapper) and make like Washington while you explore the areas historical landmarks and key points on the battlefield. There’s also kayaking and canoeing on the Chemung River and fishing for those who want to enjoy the wild side of this sacred piece of land. It’s easy to set up camp here too with cabins and tent sites. Put on your bloomers, head to Newtown and immerse yourself in the areas rich history.
