The vibe at Garden TIPI
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We spent a night in the tipi - it was pretty magical. Joan and Jason really have the structure right. From the deep and ventilated fire pit, to the stone floor, to even the drip prevention along the main supports. When a fire is lit and you've settled in around it, it's blissful.
The tipi is in a clearing with plenty of space for all the other things you need to do, and the campsite also has a hammock!
It was a ton of fun to explore the farm, as well as the surrounding areas. Be sure to check out Thatcher State park for some great waterfalls, and the local caves!
The location of the Garden TIPI is wonderful. The farm is really gorgeous and the owners are really welcoming. The farm usually has volunteers so talking to people who are staying there is fantastic.
With that said my family and I camped in the tipi during the winter holidays and it was not the best experience. We were hoping to enjoy the warmth of an indoor fire during the cold but instead the tipi got smoked out and we were forced to have no fire all night. This made our stay in the tipi very cold and pretty unbearable. It is also worth noting that the owner wasn't able to help us at the time. Maybe if they were available it would have worked out. Lastly if you plan to camp in a colder month be aware that there is no shower and running water is a bit of a walk away.
I recommend camping at this farm in the warmer months. I believe it would have been spectacular.
