Loved this campsite. Great location midway between Roscoe and Downsville. Close to so much hiking, biking, and fishing. Host was quick with communication and had great suggestions for stuff to do...he was friendly and welcoming. Great stay!!!
We had a really excellent time at the Hookup! Joseph is an exceptional and kind host and an all around really interesting guy. The structures he’s built are totally unique and the various projects he’s undertaken to improve the land make you feel as though you’ve stumbled into another whimsical little world of sorts. Highly reccomend and we will definitely be back!
My husband and I brought 4 friends with us for the weekend -- two of them had never camped before. The wonderful bathroom just steps away from our site definitely won rave reviews. Joseph was helpful and gracious, and the property was very remote and private (yet still an easy drive from the city). Falling asleep listening to the frogs in the pond and the sounds of the nearby brook was enchanting -- highly recommend to small groups looking for a unique getaway.
Great experience camping at this site. My husband and I brought 4 friends with us (1 of them had never camped before). Joseph was an excellent host, very friendly and hospitable, and his property includes several unique spots. The fantastic bathroom, just steps away from our site, made our trip a resounding success. Falling asleep to the sounds of the pond frogs and nearby stream was perfectly enchanting. While this place is only a few hours outside the city, it feels even more private and remote -- we'd highly recommmend it.
Joe is a generous and thoughtful host, who is committed to making your stay a pleasant one. His property is wonderful, beautiful and serene, and he has gone to great lengths to make each of the four campsites comfortable, and unique. The chalet itself is whimsical and imaginative work of art, as well as a practical sleeping cabin.
We stayed at “the hookup”, which is site #1 right next to the pond. We came in a small teardrop trailer and the site had everything we needed: a clean, comfortable, private well-equipped half-bath, and electrical and water hookups. Joe is friendly, good natured and helpful. I had no idea what I was doing when trying to back-up my rented camper into the spot, but zone jumped in like a pro and got us situated.
We had a wonderful stay. Joe was super friendly and helpful. We loved talking with him about all of the special things he’s done to make his property so magical. The area it’s in is great. Hiking, breweries and local swimming places were all under a half hour away. We will definitely be back!
My stay was really nice, especially because of the earnest, welcoming host, Joseph. Upfront, any potential camper should know that it’s a 20amp hookup with water, sewage (which I didn’t use), and basic wifi. The wifi is spotty, so don’t rely on it for work. No AT&T service at all, with a couple bars on my Verizon Mifi. The spot and the host though are really unique, Joseph is incredibly welcoming and very knowledgeable.
