Joseph was an amazing and delightful host and his property is top-notch. You definitely won’t be roughing it here.

You’ll wake up to sounds of nature on this tranquil property in the Catskills. The Hidden Chalet Campground is secluded yet it is only a few minutes away from downtown Roscoe, NY. Roscoe offers dining options, a museum, and even a brewery. This area of the Catskills is also well-known for its fantastic fly-fishing opportunities. Ask Joseph about fly-fishing lessons on the on-site pond. And enjoy a campfire in the evening.

You’ll most definitely have a hard time deciding which “campsite” to book. On the lower level, close to the pond and nicely appointed outhouse, there’s a full hookup site (a.k.a. The Hookup) for a camper (or a tent). The upper level, overlooking the pond, has three super unique sites and a fantastic shower room with toilet. There’s a re-purposed box truck (a.k.a. The Ravens Nest) with electric and hot water. The truck has bunk-beds, a kitchenette (with sink, stove, coffee maker, propane grill), breakfast bar, living area, and deck. There’s also a one-room chalet (a.k.a. The Secret Chalet) that was under construction when we visited. The chalet will definitely be my choice on a return visit! Check out the photos to see its unique charm and super cool architecture. Lastly, there’s a completely refurbished 1965 Scotty camper (a.k.a. The Cupola). This is where we stayed. It’s got all the bells and whistles - water, electric, stove, sink, fridge, microwave, and TV - and is decorated in a jungle theme. See if you can find all the monkeys!

Joseph’s attention to design and detail shines through in every part of his property. He’s a true craftsman. This is a perfect romantic weekend getaway location.

This 1965 refurbished Scott camper (a.k.a. The Cupola) is where we stayed. It overlooks the pond.Lights out. Time for bed. We slept so well here. The lower level of the property has a gorgeous bathroom. You simply can't call this an outhouse.
Spend time walking through the wooded area.

Joseph was a wonderful host and the site was beautiful. There were three housing options on site, and we were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. It was absolutely beautiful and I can’t wait to see how the Secret Chalet turns out when he is finished! We’re already planning a trip back with a group this time! We had an amazing time.

Joseph was very nice with us, he actually bring us a grill BBQ and he stop by few times to ask if everything was ok. We enjoy our fire on the grass and cooking there as well. The cupola is very cozy and warm, the raining day was very nice you can sleep on listening the rain on the metal sheets roof. The birds were my best melody in the morning as well the field sounds all the time. The town is very nice and stores are 10 minutes away, you can find everything there I liked the natural grocery and the farmers market as well. We really enjoy the trip was a very good choose! Hopefully we can come back more days one day :) thank you Joseph.

What a treat it was to stay in The Cupola at Hidden Chalet! This small, fully restored (by Joe himself) 1960's camper is great for 1-2 people. Campsite comes equipped with a mobile fire pit that you can move wherever is most convenient for you; it also has an adjustable built in grill so you can cook right over the fire with ease.

The camper itself comes equipped with basic kitchen utensils (i.e. a couple of plates, silverware, etc.), a small sink, a microwave and a TV w/ DVD player. There are also two very nice outhouses on the property, one of which is very close to The Cupola and includes a full-size flushable toilet, a big sink and a shower.

If you are an angler, do not forget to bring your fishing gear. There is a small pond right on the property that is stocked with rainbow trout (catch and release, of course) as well as a small brook just off the property. About a 5-7 min drive away there is also the Beaverkill River, which is a fly fisherman's dream.

Joe is a wonderful host who clearly takes a great deal of pride in his property and goes above and beyond to make sure his campers' needs are met. There are three other site options on the property, including a whimsical little cabin as well as a converted shipping container and basic tent site with hookups. One VERY small thing to note is that the three main campsites are all rather close to one another, which is not a problem as long as you are not expecting absolute seclusion/privacy. However, this actually makes the camp great if you want to come with a group of friends and rent two or even all three of the main sites, which we plan to do on our next visit!

I booked a few nights at the Cupola as a last-minute choice to get out to see the stars, but the result infinitely more than that. Each cabin had an incredibly unique and artistic vibe. The waterfalls and creeks provided a beautiful ambience at night so we couldn’t hear the other guests.
You will never have a more gracious, artistic, good-spirited host than Joe. He treated my partner, dog and I like family. He regaled us with awesome stories and made our stay unforgettable with a drive in his hot rod limo around the Pepacton Reservoir to the Delaware County Fair. We will be back! Thanks again Joe!

We had a great, relaxing Labor Day Weekend in the Cupola at Hidden Chalet! The camper was super cute and had the basic necessities for a two night stay. It was probably a wee bit tight for 2 adults and 2 small dogs, but it made for a really cozy time. The deck is a nice bonus and was a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. There are 2 outhouses on the property with proper, clean toilets which we really appreciated. Joseph was a great host and was quick to respond to any questions or issues we had. His house is on the property so if we needed anything he was able to accommodate almost immediately. When we arrived he greeted us in person, gave us a tour of the grounds and showed us the ins and outs of the camper. Super nice and interesting guy! We appreciated how welcoming he was to our pups. Besides the camper, there's also a tiny house structure and a converted shipping container available to rent, which are close by to the camper but enough distance between to still have some privacy. We also checked out Roscoe Beer Company and Prohibition Distillery during our stay which was a quick ~10 min drive away. Overall, would definitely recommend the Hidden Chalet for a unique stay in the Catskills!
