Come and experience the peace of the woods and the excitement of the surrounding area all while staying in our artisan-crafted off-grid cabin.
The area: The area around Cooperstown, New York is known for its serene beauty, its starring role in James Fenimore Cooper's frontier novels, its world-famous museums and cultural institutions, and its growing number of breweries ( including Ommegang) and distilleries.
Hiking trails, boating on beautiful Otsego Lake, hidden waterfalls, challenging bike routes and river canoeing are all within a few minutes of this hidden-away cabin. If you crave art and history, we've got The Glimmerglass Festival, The Fenimore House and Museum, Hyde Hall and of course, The Baseball Hall of Fame all within a 10-minute drive.
The cabin: This spacious cabin was custom built for our family in 2006. It perches amid our 6 acre property on the highest point in Otsego County; overlooking the fields and valley and providing the most gorgeous sunset views.
There is no electricity or running water, but you will have all you need for a comfortable and peaceful stay. The cabin has a loft and a private bedroom and can sleep even more guests on the living room futon or in large tents pitched nearby. There is a fire pit to gather around in the evenings, and if the day proves a bit rainy or cool, the wood stove and covered eating porch will keep you cozy and dry.
Wander the fields and forest, wile away some time reading in the swinging porch chair, or cook up gourmet meals using ingredients fresh from the Cooperstown Farmer's Market. For a short while, this place is your private domain--quiet and tucked away above the din. Day brings the no sounds but the birds and the rustling of sun-warmed leaves and grass. Night brings the brightest stars above and maybe even a field full of fire-flies!

The vibe at Hawk Ridge Off-Grid Cabin
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Hawk Ridge is truly a work of art as a cabin. So well built, so beautiful to stay in. It's very open and roomy, would definitely be enough room for a couple of families is you were planning a summer or fall getaway! Lots of space out back and in the field near by for even more tents. The whole place is so so cozy. It's totally off-grid, so there's no running water or electricity but there are gas lamps (which just makes it super cozy!) and theres a pump for the sink that uses rain water for washing dishes. There is a gas stove which was GREAT, and a wood burning stove that we used at night when it got chilly. Ruey was so sweet, and met us at the cabin to show us around and then let us enjoy ourselves for the rest of our stay also. The outhouse is also SUPER clean, very big. Great porch space for meals, or hanging out in the big hammock. It's very secluded, very private, and VERY beautiful. The sun sets right in front also so the light is stellar too. Couldn't be cozier. We can't wait to come back!
My girlfriend and I decided to come up here last minute for Memorial Day Weekend after a previously planned trip got cancelled. Huey was not only incredibly accommodating, quick to respond, and helpful with questions/concerns/suggestions. The property was absolutely gorgeous and had a complete handbook for any and all questions - during our stay she was always available on cell. The house itself was incredibly clean and had everything needed to have a comfortable stay. We were hesitant about the outhouse and lack of electricity, but it actually made the stay a lot more quaint and romantic in the sense that we felt off the grid, yet incredibly comfortable. Cooperstown itself is so lovely and fun with plenty of restaurants and the property itself is only 15 minutes out for an easy ride in. Will 100% be coming back!!!
