About Glimmerglass State Park

“There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore.” are epic words from “The Deerslayer” that takes place at Ostego Lake, the Glimmerglass of “The Leatherstocking Tales” by James Fenimore Cooper. Uttered time and time again by adventurers and nature lovers alike, Cooper captures how we all feel as we spend time in mother nature and learn to appreciate her majesties. Come and see what it’s all about at Glimmerglass State Park. Overlooking the “glimmerglass” this park offers a wide variety of seasonal activities. In the summer, enjoy kayaking through the lake, trailing through wildflowers or go swimming in Beaver Pond. Come winter, visitors can ski, hike, snowshoe, snowmobile, ice fish, and tube down the hills. The campground here is situated near the Shadow Brook and is only a short walk from most activities. Come stay for a while and find what sparks your rapture!
