It was said that one night during a bad storm on Lake Erie his ship was forced into the bluffs along the lake shore of Ripley NY. He took a team of oxen and made a trip to Ripley and retrieved one of the large ship anchors. That anchor now rests in downtown Findley Lake. We we're looking for a quick overnight to split up a long drive and this site was exactly that. We showed up later than expected (11:30pm) and David stayed up to wait for us. We weren't expecting it, but it was very helpful. Super nice guy that showed us the entire site. He just purchased the property so it's in its early stages, but he has some great plans to finish it out. If you're looking for a remote property on a road trip, we recommend this spot. Also recommend saving an extra twenty minutes to check out the lake down the road and eat at the Main Diner (next town over).

Dave and his wife were on hand when I arrived at the site. They brought firewood and gave me a quick tour around my campsite and pointed out noteworthy things around their property as well as the area of Findley Lake. The site was nice and secluded for a good time for camping, having a fire, cooking, and just relaxing. This was an absolutely wonderful place to have spent 3 nights and I couldn't have been more happy to have been there. Anybody looking for a nice extended camping stay or just a night would love it on this property. Additionally, if anything is needed, Dave is available and said that he is just a phone call away.

Site was as described, much bigger then expected,, very private as there was no one else there this weekend at the other sites. Our site was great for a family camp. We had 4 tents set up plus the kitchen canopy with plenty of room left! The host was great and meet us there and showed us where things were located on the property. The area was clean and he had a wood pile all stacked up but it was unfortunately all wet from all the rain recently.

The outhouse is well, an outhouse. Not a porta-potty type one that I had thought. The water after running for about 15 mins was crystal clear and could be passed off as bottled water! There is a covered trash can there by the out house as well, most trash could of been burned if it wasn’t raining so much.

The only down fall is it rained most of the time we were there and it made it impossible to drive up to the site so we had to carry everything by hand to site 1 which Is a good walk up hill from the parking area. It was muddy and the bugs where everywhere but that’s to be expected camping out in the woods.

The area has lots of nice shops and restaurants. If you plan in advance you should be able to secure a boat rental from the marine or paradise bay family camp ground. You can also pay $5 a person to use that camp grounds amenities for the day including pool, beach, fishing area etc. which is MUCH cheaper then staying at that camp ground.

I would defiantly recommend to anyone that wants a primitive camping site with a GREAT host.

Very welcoming camping experience! Dave went above and beyond my expectations and made us feel very welcomed. We came for just a night so we could go skiing the next day, but Wow!

Dave opened up a site just for us and even plowed the foot of snow that was on the ground and cleared a nice spot to set up camp. He even was waiting for us when we arrived amd took us on a little tour. Very good communication throughout the whole process.

Our site was by a stream for easy water access and other amenities. Excellent experience at Snug Harbor and highly recommend the host!

Perfect. Quiet and rustic. Close to the charming town without it being too over populated. It still felt remote.

David was very friendly and was immediately there to greet us when we pulled in. He provided us with the choice of campsites for our group after giving us a nice tour of the property, which is beautiful. The area is very quiet and the campsites are all well placed. We were given lots of firewood. This is a great spot for anyone looking for a quiet place and wonderful host.
