If your going to go the “glamping” route, you better be thinking of a yurt! Lucky for you, yurts are available at Evangola State Park, but trust us it’s not just the yurts that bring 'em out. Evangola is overflowing with family-friendly fun. Most notable being the arc shaped shoreline and natural sand beach on Lake Erie. The shoreline is lined with low shale cliffs made for climbing. Come summertime we have just two words for you: Pirate Festival. Ladies and gentlemen please try and contain yar selves! If “nom nom” and less “arrrrrr” is your style, try the annual Tomato Festival instead. Should you come when the festivities end, no worries--the park offers hiking, swimming, a playground, sport fields & courts, and even snowmobiling and skiing during winter.
Not my cup of tea! Most campsites were open on a big lawn. Campground is elevated from shore, although the lake is a short walk away. Privacy was lacking. Beach was a bit dirty, with garbage washed up on shore. Dogs are not permitted on the beach, but we were able to sneak the dog in for a swim. Restrooms & showers were nice though!!
