This is a great camping spot and Mike was a welcoming host. The kids enjoyed running around in the woods and there were plenty of amenities to make the experience more enjoyable. The site is up a hill, which Mike mentioned and he also helped get our equipment up the hill the first night. This is close enough to West Point to enjoy going back and forth for events, etc. We'd stay here again.

Mike's spot was a convenient stop for me on a cycling trip upstate.

I really appreciated Mike's responsiveness and hospitality. He definitely made an effort to make sure I was taken care of and even provided some firewood, which was appreciated.

Unfortunately, I got unlucky with the weather and spent most of my stay in the tent.

For cyclists specifically and those without a car, I would mention that the campsite it is somewhat removed up a hill along a dirt road, so you will have to carry whatever you have with you up to the campsite. Just keep that in mind.

This kind of camping experience ruins you for traditional commercial campgrounds. We were two families of 4 (8 people, 4 kids) who had hundreds of acres of woods to ourselves -- what bliss! We didn't have to worry about our noise levels or sharing facilities. It was just us and nature.

The kids enjoyed a creek to walk along and even took a couple of dips in the swimming hole even though it was May and chilly!

Only one of the three campsites had a picnic table, but Mike is new to hipcamp and will likely build more. On the bright side, the table had an umbrella which was incredibly useful when it rained!

A huge plus was the money we saved on firewood, since we had plenty of it on the property.

We enjoyed the outdoor shower very much. Thanks Mike for providing hot water!

The outhouse situation leaves room for improvement, but I believe renovations are in the works to go from carry-out bags (gross!!!) to a compost/sawdust system.

If you're looking for glamping complete with fancy facilities and scheduled activities, this isn't it. But if you want to feel truly alone in the woods, you will love Mike's wonderful space. There is plenty of hiking to be done on his property if you never want to leave, but other popular sites are nearby (see listing).

We enjoyed three nights of peace, beauty, and nature. Mike was a responsive, gracious host who is knowledgeable about many things (a mushroom aficionado in particular) and has lots of fun projects in the works.

Please note your car will have to make a very steep climb to get to the campsite, but it's doable.

We will absolutely return!

Mike was an excellent host and we loved this campsite. Even saw some deer in the AM near the edge of camp. Very beautiful with the nearby stream. Mike was also very accommodating and responsive to our questions. We will definitely be booking again.

Great location not too far from NYC. The campsites are up the hill from the Host and quite secluded. Each site is fairly large and includes a great firepit. Mike has put alot of time and effort into the details of the sites and has done a phenomenal job. We had a wonderful stay!

The site is not bad, reasonably equipt. Has an outhouse with a shower and sink on the other side of it, that runs off a battery. There are two primitive camp sites on either side of the platform camp site. There is a picnick table, a fire pit and a platform. The platform was in need of rebuilding, the wood floor was very soft, I was worried about stepping threw it. The trail up to the camp sites, I wouldn't recommend driving your 4x4 vehicle up to unless you don't mind getting scratched all to hell. Needless to say I was so displeased with this among a few other things. I can't speak to the swimming hole, I couldn't figure out where it was. Definitely wear good shoes there is a considerable amount of broken glass and things that will put a hole in your shoes on the way up the road specifically infront of where the well water faucet is. All in all its not a bad site Mike is very nice but, 55$ a night would be more exceptable if he put a little more time into the place.

Mike is an excellent host. The campsite is tucked away in a nice private forest we had to ourselves. The dog romped around free and chased the deer. Nice outdoor shower! If it was a bit farther from the road it would be perfect, but secluded enough to feel truly way. There are great hikes right around the corner and conveniently close shops in case you should forget to bring anything. We grilled one of Mike’s homegrown mushrooms, yum!

Mike was an incredible host and the location was perfect for a weekend getaway from the city! The sites are are large and well-spaced in a beautiful part of the property and there's plenty to explore on-site and nearby. We wandered by the creek, sat by the fire with the pups, watched the stars, and felt secluded in the trees. Grateful for a peaceful camping trip. We will definitely be back!
