Valley View was a great primitive campsite with a classic finger lakes view! I loved the location, it's only a few minutes drive from Montour Falls and Watkins Glen. GPS had some trouble finding the exact location, I posted a picture showing what the driveway entrance looks like, you can also look for the white mailbox labeled "Valley View". There are lots of awesome things to do and places to explore, so Valley View makes a perfect base camp if you are planning a trip to the area! The property is a huge rolling field filled with purple wildflowers and a great vista of the surrounding valley. However, It was a little overgrown for my late summer stay. Chris is a great host, he gave me a lot of useful info before my trip and it sounds like he has some upgrades planned. In the meantime, the site functions perfectly well for primitive tent camping! I'd 100% recommend checking out Shequaga Falls while you are here, it's right in the heart of Montour and it's a great view that takes very little effort!
This campsite had so much more than we expected! We absolutely loved our time here. There was tons of brush and wood to burn and plenty of land to camp on. Chris was a communicative host. The only thing we had to fiddle with was finding totally flat ground - it was a little slanted but not terrible!
This site was beautiful! Very secluded, road on the side but nothing too loud. Close in proximity to many attractions, such as Watkins Glen State Park, Finger Lakes National Forest, and Seneca Lake. Chris was a great host, very accommodating. Clean porta potty was provided, along with toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and other cleaning supplies. Fire pit with log benches and lawn chairs were also provided. 10/10 would recommend this site!
Nice site with a great view. Be sure to bring shade but a great place to watch the sun set. It could be a little more level and the fire pit area was overgrown. Otherwise, we lived the quiet, beautiful location and would definitely go back.
The location was amazing! Great view overlooking the town of Montour Falls. Close to town, but still secluded. Our only complaint was that the site was a little overgrown. We had to use some hedge clippers around the fire pit.
There are beautiful rolling hills on this site. Christopher was very friendly and contacted me to see if he should mow the area (really glad he did as there is SUPER tall, stiff grass). There are two sites, as no one else was camping we had a pick of the two. We picked the one a bit higher up. You can see the town from here, which makes it feel less remote.
There is a port a potty if you so desire such a facility. Fire pits are available as well as benches built by Mennonites. Christopher even helped us gather some kindling. This was a great site, and close to Watkins Glen State Park!
Very private and beautiful land with a fantastic view of the valley. Bring bug spray and your own shade if you can. I highly recommend this site if you are thinking of staying in the area, and with all the waterfalls and wine, you should.
The location & view was spectacular! If anything the stunning view of the village of Montour Falls & the main falls there (which are lit at night) was undersold! We greatly enjoyed viewing the stars & falls from our tent at night! Unfortunately we had trouble getting here as we were sent instructions to the owner's other camp 1 hour away. Please note that this campsite is on Cotton Hanlon Road and do not follow instructions to any other Road. Please also note that there are 3 campsites (the listing let us to believe there was 1 and only when we received instructions did we come to understand there were 3). However the owner did a great job separating the campsites so there is a large distance between them & you are not on top of other campers. We happened to be the only campers there and we enjoyed that greatly. We unfortunately did not find the porta potty as clean as others but otherwise we found the campsite just as others described: a little difficulty finding a flat spot & a little overgrown but I would still certainly recommend this as a campsite because the beauty is unparalleled!
