The Catskill Mountain region has been known as the playground of NYC peeps for decades, but this secluded spot in the western corner of the Catskill Preserve has been largely forgotten, at least by the crowds. What they left behind is premium getaway with all the amenities, history, and fun of an upscale resort in a wilderness package. You’ve got a pristine mountain lake for swimming, miles of rugged hiking trails, plus a bit of shopping if you’re so inclined. With spots like this, you’ve got no excuse. Head to the mountains and reap the rewards!

What a great gem hidden away. Plenty of hiking trails, a nice pond for fishing or boating. The trails are amazing and hardly used. Sites are clean and far enough apart that you're not right on top of each other. The bathrooms are clean and the showers are hot. There is even a sink outside for washing your dishes.

The ranger Seth was super cool. He gave me tips about trails and was really helpful. He was soaking wet because he was caught in the rain helping two girls make a fire and set up the tarp he loaned them.

I was one of two sites reserved so it was like I had the place to myself.

Thankful I had a tarp because I got stuck in a downpour.
