If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
My husband and I stayed for 2 nights, a quick last minute trip. The site was nice and it was great being on the water. There was a tent and an air mattress (not mentioned in description) The only thing we didn’t care for was that the site was literally in the owners backyard. We had left for a few minutes and returned to the owner at the site mowing the lawn (that wasn’t overgrown) after we had spoken on the phone to introduce ourselves a few minutes prior. He was pleasant but it was awkward. We could also hear mowing very close at other times. It just made us hyper aware we were in a backyard and questioned whether we were being watched. But all in all it was a great time and even though not totally private, it was private enough. My overworked UPS driver husband had a good first camping experience and was in his fishing glory.
Great site - would do again
My group had a great stay at this site. It's huge, private, and right on the river. There was some gear already set up onsite (tent, canopy, picnic table, water jugs, camp stoves, composting toilet), which made our setup quicker. Also, there was an ample supply of free firewood. We also liked that it was just a 2-mile drive to town, and there was good AT&T cell coverage at the campsite.
The check-in/check-out process was entirely self service, and the instructions and map were clear so we had no trouble getting in and set up. By chance, we happened to bump into one of our hosts in the main driveway as we were returning from town. Other than that we never saw anybody and we felt like we had the place all to ourselves.
We would definitely return to this site in the future. The only con is that the land all is sloped toward the river, so everyone sleeps a little bit tilted.
