We have 9 sites, site 1 is in the woods and has a giant boulder. 2-5 are in a 2 acre field, with some trees, the campsites are extra large. Site 5 is on the edge of the field and is the smallest. Sites 2 and 4 are next to each other and connect, so they are the best sites for large groups. Sites 6-9 are new, not as mature yet (as far as grass) and are in a wooded section. There is 40 acres here to explore, small streams, small ponds
We also offer hiking excursions, booked in advance.
Near Sam's Point, Ice Cave Mountain, Minewaska Park are all nearby! We are close to many hiking trails, state parks, restaurants, creeks, swimming, fishing and more. We are also a few minutes from angry orchard. There is a water spigot by the swing set garden.
This is in the middle of the 40 acres but we still have all the cool stuff like tons of restaurants, breweries, wineries, and farms all around. Angry Orchard is right down the road. We have a brand new casino and Lego Land will be opening soon! It's amazing here!
We can accommodate small vans and RVs as well.

We had a lovely few days camping at boulder point! Beautiful woods and surroundings. Upon arrival we were met by the host and shown to the site, were also able to purchase as much firewood as we needed for the weekend. The site is not too far from the main house but far enough away where you feel completely secluded. The location is perfect for all local hiking spots in the Shawangunk mountains and Minnewaska State park. Richard was a communicative and friendly host. We had a great time!
Awesome campsites near towns and hiking. We had a great experience staying at Rich's place this past labor day weekend. We stayed in the field site which included a picnic table, a fire ring, and plenty of room for your car and tents. The site was very spacious and secluded. In addition, Rich was a great host. Super friendly, flexible, generous with his firewood, and gave us lots of recommendations for things to do around the area (hiking, restaurants & bars, towns, etc.). 10/10 would definitely recommend - we will be back for sure!
This campsite was perfectly adequate. With a few minor improvements, however, it could be really great.
- If you're looking for isolation, this isn't it. The map at checkout was deceptive, as we thought there would be more space between campsites. However, we could easily hear and see multiple other campsites, as well as the owner's house. Luckily our neighboring campers were quiet and polite, but it was very much a "backyard camping" vibe.
- It was advertised as having water -- but, it is well water and smells heavily of sulfur (ie: rotten eggs). So while technically potable, you will likely want to bring your own water (or some sort of filtration system). This should be noted in the description.
- Not all camp sites have the same amenities: example, our site didn't have a picnic table, while most others did. Not sure why this is the case.
- The fire pit at our site (#2) was right next to the dirt road where everyone drives their cars in and out. It was a very odd placement, not cozy or ideal. Would be better if moved a few feet away from the road.
- Our site had a single tree -- very little shade, but more disappointingly, we couldn't use the hammock we brought. It would be helpful to have a better description and layout of each campsite, instead of trying to guess which one we wanted. Not the owner's fault, but Hipcamp developers should consider adding this in the design. A brief description for each site, on the map at checkout, would be very helpful.
We had a wonderful time camping at Boulder Point, and Rich was a great host!
Close to NYC, yet totally private and woodsy. Amazing hiking at nearby state park trails, and lots of other stuff to do in the area.
I'd recommend the third campsite at the Boulder, (by the boulder) if you can get it!
This campsite is fantastic. A perfect little spot away from it all, but not too far away. Easily accessible from NYC and a great spot to setup camp for a few nights. There are some excellent hiking trails in the area. Richard was a fantastic host. Quick to communicate and very accommodating, we will definitely be back!
My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay at Boulder Point! Our host met us upon arrival, led us to our site, and made sure that our car wouldn't have any trouble getting in or out. He recommended awesome local restaurants and nature attractions to check out (I highly recommend hiking up to Sam's Point!). He even gave us bottles of drinking water and fire starters! We felt very well taken care of. The camping spot itself was really lovely. Perfect for hammocks! It's not the most rugged style of camping that I'm used to because it's still on someone's property (not a hike in site like on the Appalachian trail) but the convenience of driving up to the site made it perfect for a quick weekend trip from the city.
Short Summary: Highly Recommended. Beautiful property, friendly host, and plenty to explore.
Detailed Review: Upon arriving at Boulder Point Tent Camp, we were immediately greeted by Richard. He was friendly and spent time explaining to us the grounds, places to check out, and even personally lead us to the campground. The site we were at (#2) was in the woods by a gigantic boulder. Extremely quiet and peaceful with plenty of dry deadwood on the ground to fuel our fire. There were plenty of trails that lead all over the property to hike and explore. At night, we followed a trail to an open field where we could gaze up at the stars.
Quick Tip: There is a rough unimproved trail that leads to the campsite. You will likely need 4-Wheel Drive and a decent amount of ground clearance if you intend to pull up to the site. Otherwise, you can park and walk in with no problem.
Rich is great! And the site is cool, has a nice view of some mountains, fire pit, some chairs. Really all you need for a camping trip! Only note I would say is I would advise 4WD. We made it within 50-100ft of a site in a regular car but it would have been easier in 4WD! You can make it in a regular car but if you have 4WD I would definitely bring it. :)
Richard, who owns the land, was extremely welcoming. We bought wood from him and they weren’t small pieces which was nice. He showed us two different spots we could choose from. We chose the more secluded spot by the boulder. The spot was on the side of the hill and I’m not sure where someone could set up a tent but we had our roof top tent so it was fine. Also would not recommend this campsite if you don’t have 4x4. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would camp here again.
