There is a wood stove in the yurt - please review the instruction page on the counter. The walls and roof are insulated but the floor is not insulated. This is not a toasty warm accommodation, the fire takes a bit to heat up the whole space and the stove is not big enough to burn all night long. The stove makes it 40 degrees (F) warming inside than outside. So if its 0F outside, it'll be 40F inside with the stove cranking. Our yurt is a few solid steps up from camping on the ground or sleeping in your truck when its cold, hence the economical price, but its not a fully conditioned space. Its a super sweet place to stay with killer views and perfect privacy but we recommend guests be comfortable and independent shoulder season or winter campers. Please email us with any questions.
(The floor will be getting insulated in Spring 2018.)
Its less than 15 minutes to Whiteface, 25 minutes to Lake Placid and 20 minutes to trailheads for the Adirondack High Peaks.

The vibe at Adirondack FarmStay Yurt in Jay
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Tyler and his family were great hosts! This yurt is magical, it's cozy, surrounded by some of the highest Adirondack peaks, and nestled in a grove of pines. This yurt would be great for a weekend retreat, a basecamp for Adirondack adventures, or in winter a first "winter camping" experience. The inside of the yurt is accented by a wood divider and a woodstove, which give it a cozy cabin feel. During the day, the clear dome skylight and windows give plenty of natural light. The full-size gas stove makes cooking easy, and there are two comfortable couches by the woodstove to relax. There's a firepit right outside with unreal views of Adirondack peaks. The yurt is located past the main house, and there's a good dirt road to the yurt. The sheep and pigs graze nearby, in fenced pasture. Bring some short hardwood logs for the woodstove! In late fall it was a little chilly, but the woodstove warmed the yurt up quickly, and the electric blanket kept me warm all night. If you're in the Adirondack region, I highly recommend you stay here!
This is such a beautiful place. Surrounded by the mountains this gives a surreal view of Adrioncacks mountain ranges. The yurt is very beautiful from inside and very cozy.
Tyler and his family were very welcoming and helpful.
I would recommend this place and would love to get back.
