The vibe at Adirondack Acres Trail & Camps
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Adirondack Acres Trail & Camps is a nice little spot on the edge of the Ausable River. Upon pulling up the address there was a bit of confusion on where the site was. However, Christina and her Fiance Glenn came out with a warm welcome and pointed us in the right direction. The entrance for the site is across the street from their residence and is a gravel road leading down the embankment toward the river from Route 9N. Christina and Glenn began to give us the tour of the property and mentioned that we could camp wherever we'd like, but that most people camp along the river. Within 200 yards of traveling the logging road leading to the site, we ran into a ditch in which most vehicles would not be able to cross. From here there is about a 10-minute walk to the edge of the river, which is where we would recommend campers to set up. This could be a super inconvenience for most campers without a high clearance 4x4 vehicle. The rest of the fire road narrows and has a lot of growth from years of neglect of maintenance.
We set up on the sandy cut bar of the river for the night due to low water levels. During the spring or high rain periods this most likely would not be possible. The site was beautiful and in peak summer would be an excellent place to swim and kick it with friends. At night, you can hear vehicles traveling the nearby interstate and some curious wildlife but other than that, the night was smooth sailing. Our weather forecast was overcast so we unfortunately didn’t get to enjoy the sunlight beaming through the fall foliage but it was still a super enjoyable time.
Other than a beaver dam blocking the entry road, the actual camping area near the river was everything expected with camping. It was very private and the hosts were great. I would recommend for anyone who is looking for a quiet space to fish and relax.
Amazing stay. We camped for 2 nights by the river and weather was perfect. Glenn and Christina were great hosts and kind enough to bring our equipment from the car to the campsite. Once we arrived at the main area, we were memorized, the photos do not do this area justice, beautiful sandy beach, open space and plenty of room for our dog to roam free, it's a great spot for families and pets! Nothing like swimming all day followed by a starry night sky. We can't wait to come back with our friends and family.
The hosts were nice enough to give us a hand with a bunch of our equipment. The walk is a bit longer than expected but the site is right next to the river and very private. It's beautiful there.
I loved staying here with my friends and my boyfriend. The view was amazing and you can camp anywhere you find a spot. The host was at work while we were supposed to be checking in so we didn’t get in until 5 (1.5 hours after check in). It wasn’t really anything she could control but it was still a little worrying seeing as I had little service and needed to get a hold of the host before my phone died so I knew where to go. The walk to where we stayed was about 10 minutes so I was aching the entire one after carrying all of our stuff. But the views AMAZING and the water was so nice. There’s a perfect swimming hole and beach right next to the main site (we found somewhere else deeper in the woods on the “trail less traveled” we liked to call it because it wasn’t mowed down and found that as a good sign! We wanted to be as secluded as possible!) Just 3 minutes down the road there was a cute little grocery store with 375(?) different kinds of beer and you can make your own six pack. Which of course we did and that just made our stay that much more exciting! I would definitely love to stay here again
That was a great trip ! Christina and her husband were very helpful in explaining everything and helping us get stuff the the campsite ! the hike in is very nice ! gets you away from it all !. nice private site lots of options. crystal clear river. we all loved it ! the puppies had a blast as well !!! :) do not hesitate to stay there! you will ear the cars in the distance travelling on the highway. but that is absolutely not a problem ! thanks !
I have to admit... It crossed my mind not to write a review because I don't want this hidden gem to get discovered, but I have faith that Christina and her husband will stay true to their vision of this site. They truly care about the nature of this property and about their guests experience during their stay.
Yes, it is about a 10 minute walk down to the site... but, it is an absolutely beautiful walk! and yes, you can hear vehicles on the nearby road, but it is drowned out by the sound of the river and the laughter of your fellow campers. We felt like we were much farther from civilization than we actually were. It was exactly what we were looking for. We can't wait to return!
