Situated on the Barwon River just 5km outside of Walgett, Muddy Waters is a Fisherman’s dream... Enjoy direct river access and try your luck at the seasonal bounty of Murray Cod, Golden Perch (yellow-belly) and huge blue crayfish! Muddy Waters is an ideal location for your adventures and outback experience. Walgett has a rich Indigenous and agricultural history, with significant sites located nearby. Walgett means “where two rivers meet” and Muddy Waters is less than 1km by boat from the junction of the Namoi and Barwon River. Set up base here and do daily tours at your own leisure. Brewarrina Fish Traps are 130km west & Lightning Ridge & Grawin/Glengarry Opal Fields situated 70km north. Enjoy a soak in a number of artesian bore baths in the shire like the often overlooked and quieter one in Walgett. No toilets here - campers must be self-contained and please leave no trace. Dogs welcome but kept under control as we have farm animals and dogs. Access to the campsites is possible for all types of vehicles and rigs. Campfires ok, and free firewood to collect.

Lovely Setting

Lovely setting and we were fortunate to have the place to ourselves. However site’s very close together which wouldn’t suit everyone in peak season.

Muddy Waters - absolute river front

Quite, stunning and quaint location

Lovely, Peaceful location. Hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful and after welcoming us left us to enjoy the beautiful scenery! Check out their little caravan farm shop for fresh, locally grown produce when in season . Well priced for the space and safe , quite location. Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise with us. Will be back !

Site 1 - Muddy Waters -powered sites

River camping at its best !!!!

We were welcomed by Luke when we arrived. We set up on the riverbank. Town is only about 5 minutes away. We used the camp as our base and each day headed out to see the local attractions, bore baths, pubs in the scrub, lightning riddge and the amazing Brewarrina fish baths. I looked forward to returning each afternoon to see all the wildlife around & to do a spot of fishing- no luck on the elusive Murray cod, but had heaps of fun catching good sized carp. Then we would settle back and sit by a campfire ( there is some great wood available here all cut for $10 ) We enjoyed this place so much that a 3night stay was extended for a few more nights We look forward to returning and spending more time here Thanks Carolyn & Luke for making our trip and stay so easy

Muddy Waters - absolute river front

We loved camping at the rivet paddock site. It was quite and the views were gorgeous. We didn't get to meet the hosts. Fishing was great and lots of shade. The emu that would visit every day was eventful! And hilarious. The only thing I would need to warn other campers of is the vast amount of broken glass we found all around the sites and river bank. We filled one garbage bag full but there was just to much to keep going.

We only stayed one night at Muddy Waters, but enjoyed the serenity on the riverbank. The hosts are very friendly.
