Got what we were looking for. Camping away from it all. Beautiful scenery, peaceful and a river just down the track to cool off and do a spot of fishing. Town was just a short drive away. Great aussie hospitality from the host. My son and I had a awesome stay and will be back soon.
Had whole back paddock to ourselves (besides a beautiful horse grazing in the fields around us), and farm backs on to a forested area - great for dogs. Location was good (near Taree, and short drive out to Old Bar Beach), but highlight was secluded wilderness with wallabies hopping around. Stunning!
Sandy at Charity Creek Retreat was the perfect host.
All we asked was peace and quite and that’s exactly what we got, Sandy showed us two beautiful sites to choose from that where freshly mown, we decided to go for the one on a small rise that had beautiful views.
All we could hear was the local bird life and a chorus of frogs at dusk, it was fantastic.
We kayaked on the river 5 minutes away for hours,!the River was clean and fresh and very inviting.
Quite the local hang out but typical country hospitality we where most welcome, the river would also be a great spot for a picnic or a spot of fishing.
Wingham is like 20 minutes away and had all the modern shopping you could ask for from fuel to coles and of course the bottle shop.
We highly recommend Sandy and Charity Creek Retreat if you want to just get away and hide from the world and enjoy your own company.
