The Pond House is a 10' X 10' waterproof gazebo, covered in flowering vines, bordered by the 'lower' pond and surrounded in orchard trees. Hiking trails are out the front gate and down the road a bit.
Located in Glenwood, New Mexico, there are hot springs, labyrinths, galleries and ghost towns. This is the perfect place for relaxing, fishing, hiking, biking, birding and gazing at the starry starry night sky.
Glenwood is home to:
The Catwalk National Recreation Trail;
Gila National Forest and the Aldo Leopold Wildness
Cosmic Campground (the first Dark Sky Sanctuary in North America)
The Pond House is available from April 1st through October 31st.
Inside the Pond House is a very comfortable double bed that is fully enclosed in mosquito netting; on both sides of the bed are shelf units and reading lights with USB ports. The bedding includes an electric blanket, pillows, comforter and cotton sheets. There is a wood floor, plush rugs and an antique commode that has morphed into a composting toilet (sawdust and toilet paper provided). As the temperature gets colder and the daylight gets shorter, the fabric walls will drop to keep the wind out and preserve any daytime warmth.. There is no way to heat the structure.
Also included in the nightly rate is WiFi, a waterproof cabana (attached to the Pond House) with a picnic table, cushioned chairs, a side table with plates, cups, flatware, place mats and solar lighting. The chiminea is available for your use, with enough firewood for one fire.
Natures gifts are the waterfall to lull you to sleep and a view of the Milky Way from bed!
This Glamping experience will fill your soul with beauty all around you..
My property is at the end of a tree lined lane and just 300 yards from Whitewater Creek.
This is an animal lovers paradise. The horses mow and fertilize the land, the ducks and chickens walk around during the day and sleep in their coop at night. The cats will roll onto their back for a scratch and Zsa Zsa the dog is always ready to demonstrate her tree climbing skills. The front gate is kept closed for privacy as well as to keep Zsa Zsa from jumping on your car and Koneha, my sweet 27 year old mare, from wandering off.
*There are restaurants in Glenwood, Alma and Mogollon (seasonal) that provide wonderful meals, some as close as 1/2 mile from The Pond House.
* No restaurants are open for dinner on: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, The convenience store closes at 7 p.m.
About the Pond House:
Starting with a domed metal frame, I wove the top with bamboo and wire. Iron braces stabilized the structure as did the addition of decorative pieces of wrought iron fencing. The entry is a metal arched trellis with a gate (to keep the chickens, ducks, dog and horses out; but not the cats). On top of the dome I added an old bird cage and spire. Vines were planted at each corner and have woven into the reed walls nearly, covering the entire Pond House in greenery.
It is waterproof, with a tarp held in place with bamboo from my garden and fabric walls that have 8 zippers (for ventilation and privacy).
There are many places to sit and enjoy the huge trees, orchard and ponds. Hammocks, galleries, sculpture garden, labyrinth, flowers and bird watching complete this piece of heaven.

The vibe at The Pond House New Mexico
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
For those of us who crave the night sky, the symphony of trickling water and the scent of early morning dew before coffee, The Pond House will be the most glorious of shelters. Intentionally crafted to create a very glamping experience, The Pond House will remind you of a hobbit house wrapped with flowering vines. It is obvious that Beth has put much care into creating this space - not only to make it comfortable, but also to help it mold into the rest of her wanderland. There is healthy, lush flora and fauna everywhere on this property and the host is awesome.
