This charming and historic cabin was once a bunkhouse. Legend has it that "Billy the Kid" slept here. After all, his step dad William Antrim owned the house next door.
The Bungalow has been completely renovated, outfitted and upgraded over the last several years. It is a medley of visual delights, nestled under a giant walnut tree and surrounded in a wonderland of flowering gardens (March - October). Large windows frame a stunning and unobstructed view of the Gila National Forest's Mogollon Mountains in southwest New Mexico.
Optional and additional cost: Continental Breakfast (fresh eggs, bagels, jam, butter, juice, fruit)
My property can accommodate up to six adults. The Pond House is covered in vines, surrounded with flowers and next to the lower pond. It is waterproof and has fabric walls. In it is a double bed, antique commode which I have made into a composting toilet, night stands/shelves with reading lights (USB ports). This is a "Glamping Experience" (glamorous camping). The Lotus is also available, it is a 16' round tent/yurt. It has a queen bed, composting toilet, chairs, dresser, antique wash stand and much more. Both glamping units have electricity and wifi.
Guests have access to the many places to sit and enjoy the oasis. Swing on the bench beside the Koi ponds and admire the lilies and lotus blossoms while listening to the waterfall. Enjoy the shade of the porch, the flower and vegetable gardens, walk the Autumnal Labyrinth or take a snooze in the hammock under the apple trees. Explore the galleries, beginning with the sculpture courtyard. The brick lined path to a rock building that was once a water cistern, has been transformed into an exquisite gallery. Behr Art Galleries features three generations of the Behr family artwork, and represents many regional artists . The walls are adorned with a unique collection of art, crafts and gifts from near and far.
Workshops and Art Retreats are available in clay, copper embossing, mosaic and gourd art.
Hiking trails are out the front gate and down the road a bit and very close to the Fish Hatchery/fishing pond.
Other things to note:
My property is at the end of a tree lined road and 300 yards from Whitewater Creek.
This is an animal lovers paradise. The horses mow and fertilize the land, the ducks and chickens walk around during the day and sleep in their coop at night. The cats will roll onto their back for a scratch and Zsa Zsa the dog is always ready to demonstrate her tree climbing skills. The front gate is kept closed for privacy as well as to keep Zsa Zsa from jumping on your car.

Absolutely blown away! This handcrafted oasis beat all my expectations. Beth was such a thoughtful, caring, creative host with great passion for all that she does. The artistry that spans every detail of her property is a testament to her creative spirit and drive. Some of the stuff she’s made is seriously amazing. Beth has thought through every detail and built her sustainable slice of paradise with guests in mind. I felt so at home. Lovers of art, animals, and the great outdoors will surely find some comfort here.
This spot is the perfect location tucked away in the Gila National Forest. Beth is one of the most welcoming hosts. When I arrived she greeted me and welcomed me immediately into her home to tell me about the property and show me her beautiful home. She offered me a warm shower and turned on the heating blanket in my sleeping accommodations for me (yes - it comes with a heating blanket!) I was skeptical that sleeping in a yurt in the middle of November would be warm, but with the heating blanket, it was the perfect temperature all evening!
Beth really thinks of everything. She provides coffee and snacks when you wake up in the morning that are set out right in your yurt or cabin. This allows you to wake up on your own schedule and start your day whenever you would like. As I was getting prepared to leave, she offered to show me the gallery. DO NOT LEAVE without seeing the gallery! It is stunning. She has the her work as well as work of local artists on display.
This place really is a hidden gem! I would have loved to stay there longer and would recommend everyone stay there if they are passing through the forest!
This is such a beautiful place - Beth has created an extraordinary masterpiece with the space. It's really gorgeous, peaceful, comfortable, cozy, inviting, friendly and full of amazing stories and details. Beth is an absolutely wonderful person to be around and to get to know, such an open heart and beautiful spirit. I will definitely be back to your little paradise, Beth! Thank you for everything!
Pond House in Glenwood NM is an amazing place. Beth, owner, is an artist and has two galleries. My niece and I fixed dinner in the outdoor kitchen then drank wine around the campfire (got to leave our brand on the log stumps) then relaxed in the hot tub. It is worth the trip just to meet her animals (dog, horses, parrots, cats, chickens).
