It's difficult to describe the magic of this little Shanti Community, but it's easy to recommend it to anyone with an adventurous spirit and a love for the great outdoors. This place is straight out of a dream. This was my second visit, and I plan to return again the next time I'm in the area! I stayed in Golden Dawn, another one of the buses on site, last time but was so pleased to try out a new home-on-wheels this time around. Tortilla Bus is so cozy - from the elevated bed to the cool tire chair and bean bag by the stove, we never wanted to leave! The mattress is phenomenal and helped us get the best sleep we'd had in weeks. With a few logs and fire starters, prepared in advance by Shanti's caretaker, Dan, we were able to heat the bus through the cold night and woke up feeling fresh under a clear blue sky.
Shelly is an incredible host - always attentive and gracious, making sure her guests have whatever they need to feel at home. She even accommodated a special request to ensure we could pay this place a visit on a tight timeline! She's one of my favorite hosts and totally makes guests want to keep this spot as a regular destination on trips to the Southwest!
Amazing!!!!! I was there by myself on a Monday traveling back to KC from a solo adventure I was taking through the mid & southwest...Shelly was so easy to stay connected with! Hands down one of the best places I’ve visited!
To all that wonder, just wander!
We just got back from our trip to the Tortilla Bus at Shanti Community. I took my 12 yr old daughter and two dogs up the rough but beautiful road yesterday evening to a fantastic little find! Sammy was there to greet us and was ever so sweet and gracious about us coming to stay, and offered firewood at 5 dollars and any other needs. My daughter literally squealed with the delight about the accommodations. Not often you get a whimsical chance to camp on a bus at a cool property run by awesome people. Shelley also came by to say hi, and although we didn't have much time to talk, because of my cold, she's an awesome woman! Kudos to her and Sammy for running such a wonderful camp for all to enjoy. We will be back! Oh, and this bed was above hotel quality, totally comfy! Thanks ladies, my daughter and I will always have this special memory.
Hugs! To all that wonder, just wander and go, you will have a blast and enjoy the beautiful scenery and hospitality!
