We met Terry. She was wonderful and welcoming. The "Dusk Till Dawn" was great. The bed was comfortable. The scenery was perfect. Just what we needed for our trip.

What an INCREDIBLE little slice of off-grid heaven. Shelly is such a welcoming and compassionate host. A true inspiration - do not be surprised if you start googling "undeveloped land for sale" after staying at this wonderfully and thoughtfully planned little community. My partner and I stayed at Dusk Til Dawn, and a good friend of ours stayed in the Shanti Yurt. This particular bus is on the edge of the community, and is a short walk to the restroom and communal kitchen, and easily walk-able to the other Yurt or Shelly's Yurt if you have any problems. We did have some cell signal so we were able to text Shelly as needed and she was very responsive. Staying in Dusk til Dawn was perfect - opening the windows on the bus provides a very lovely cross breeze, there were outlets in the bus for us to plug in our devices, at night it got a bit cold so we made a fire IN THE BUS (in the wood burner haha) which was a neat experience all itself - hanging in the hammock late at night, with the fire going next to you.... and you can still smell the juniper breeze coming in off the edge of the mesa... and then the STARS, which can be seen pretty clearly from the bed of the bus. It was hard for us to get to sleep because we wanted to keep watching the stars! The bed was super big and comfortable, we had extra blankets to keep us warm if needed.

RE: ROADS! We drove up in a Honda Civic and yes the road is rough in spots - which Shelly is very transparent about - but if you are not used to driving on these types of roads, you have been warned. We WERE familiar with how to drive on a rough dirt road, and got to the property just fine! Slow and steady! Shelly also offers rides for a fee back to the property if preferred.

Overall A+++. We wanted remote, we wanted to see stars, we wanted to hear the wind passing over the desert. I have stayed in all sorts of camp grounds, airbnbs, hostels, etc., this place is unlike anywhere I have stayed, and comes in at my number one spot so far. We will definitely be back. Thanks for everything Shelly, you're a treat.

Spent a wonderful evening and morning at the Shanti property. Wish we could have stayed longer. It is beautiful, peaceful, and has fantastic energy. Everything is as listed--cute and comfortable off-grid accommodations in the bus on a remote piece of land with incredible views and great stars at night. Terri, who fills in as caretaker when Shelley, the owner, is out of town, was friendly and helpful. Shelley is extremely responsive via text/email and provides detailed and easy-to-follow written directions for getting to the property since cell service can be spotty on the drive.

The directions say that the road in is a little rough, and that is true. We made it in our little Hyundai Accent rental car, but had to go really slowly to avoid scraping the undercarriage on the rocky road. Don't let this deter you--getting there is well worth the journey--just might recommend a vehicle with higher clearance if you are able to get it. Thanks for a great stay!

Great spot--middle of the mesa, far away from everything! We had a great time and loved the vibe. Just know that it's something of a drive from the nearest town of Madrid and the road is very rough. Our little rental car made it fine, but higher-clearance would have been easier.

This was an absolutely amazing experience. There is nothing quite like falling asleep to beautiful stars and waking up to an amazing sunrise all from within a beautifully refurbished school bus. The bus is fully equipped with a comfortable bed, hammock, sink and propane stove, cute decorations and more. Just when I thought things couldn't get any better, my travel buddy brewed some fresh coffee while we watched the sun begin to peak out from behind the surrounding mountains. The drive there was definitely rocky - we recommend going slow - but don't let this deter you. Staying at Shelly's property was a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you so much Shelly!

Perfect place to spend a quiet evening. The sunset was gorgeous, we watched it from the hammock! Felt very safe and comfortable. The road was rough for a car that’s not built for them (lots of rocks and dips) but we made it there in one piece. Our stay was worth the drive.

Shelly and her little shanti community was wonderful. Wish we could have stayed longer than 1 night. The Dusk to Dawn bus is a little farther away from the other buses, which we enjoyed. But it is still close enough to use the community features. We will definitely be back!!!!
