My place is off-grid and rustic! Only 5 miles from Madrid, NM. It is close to art and culture, great views, and restaurants and dining. You’ll love Shanti because of the views, the quiet peace, the unique experience of off-grid life on a mesa at 6800 feet, and the proximity to the artist village of Madrid.
My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends (pets).

We had a great time. Dusk till Dawn was an amazing place to stay. The host was very helpful. We will definitely be back.
We met Terry. She was wonderful and welcoming. The "Dusk Till Dawn" was great. The bed was comfortable. The scenery was perfect. Just what we needed for our trip.

Spent a wonderful evening and morning at the Shanti property. Wish we could have stayed longer. It is beautiful, peaceful, and has fantastic energy. Everything is as listed--cute and comfortable off-grid accommodations in the bus on a remote piece of land with incredible views and great stars at night. Terri, who fills in as caretaker when Shelley, the owner, is out of town, was friendly and helpful. Shelley is extremely responsive via text/email and provides detailed and easy-to-follow written directions for getting to the property since cell service can be spotty on the drive.
The directions say that the road in is a little rough, and that is true. We made it in our little Hyundai Accent rental car, but had to go really slowly to avoid scraping the undercarriage on the rocky road. Don't let this deter you--getting there is well worth the journey--just might recommend a vehicle with higher clearance if you are able to get it. Thanks for a great stay!
Great spot--middle of the mesa, far away from everything! We had a great time and loved the vibe. Just know that it's something of a drive from the nearest town of Madrid and the road is very rough. Our little rental car made it fine, but higher-clearance would have been easier.
This was an absolutely amazing experience. There is nothing quite like falling asleep to beautiful stars and waking up to an amazing sunrise all from within a beautifully refurbished school bus. The bus is fully equipped with a comfortable bed, hammock, sink and propane stove, cute decorations and more. Just when I thought things couldn't get any better, my travel buddy brewed some fresh coffee while we watched the sun begin to peak out from behind the surrounding mountains. The drive there was definitely rocky - we recommend going slow - but don't let this deter you. Staying at Shelly's property was a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you so much Shelly!

Perfect place to spend a quiet evening. The sunset was gorgeous, we watched it from the hammock! Felt very safe and comfortable. The road was rough for a car that’s not built for them (lots of rocks and dips) but we made it there in one piece. Our stay was worth the drive.
Shelly and her little shanti community was wonderful. Wish we could have stayed longer than 1 night. The Dusk to Dawn bus is a little farther away from the other buses, which we enjoyed. But it is still close enough to use the community features. We will definitely be back!!!!
Great spot. Would totally stay here again.
Coolest place I have camped in a long time.
Omg this site is so charming! The inside of the bus was quite luxurious compared to our expectations. We had a comfortable bed, hammock, cooking stove, dining table, and sink. It is far enough from the other buses to feel private but not too far to the toilet. Gorgeous view of the sunset from our cute space too.
The drive to the site was super rough! We debated turning around a couple times. Grab groceries, ice, and anything you need before heading here because you won’t want to do the drive more than necessary!
