Cheap affordable no frills place to camp. Close proximity to other places in town but felt secluded enough. Home on the property, but still felt private. Ed, the host was easy to communicate with and responded to phone calls and texts quickly. Would camp here again.
Safe sanctuary to park & bonfire :)
A really pretty lot in the city of las Cruces. There were trees to give you privacy from the neighbors and the house, and it was a cool space and I felt really safe as a young woman solo adventurer:)
Needed somewhere last minute to park my Jeep on my road trip, and this was so easy and nice. It’s close to civilization so it was easy stopping at a gas station nearby to fill up and get snacks:)
Got in at 9pm and just drove right to the spot I reserved on hipcamp:) They allow bonfires so I made a little fire in a fire pit on the spot I reserved with some firewood I picked up at a gas station nearby and chilled a little warming my toes by the fire wrapped in my quilt before curling up in the back of my Jeep for the night:)
Then when the sun rose I said goodbye to this safe sanctuary, stopped at Sportsman’s Warehouse which was nearby to grab a couple camping things, then off to white sands national monument where I had a magical experience back country camping, it was about an hour away and a really pretty/easy drive:)
Ed was awesome responding to texts when I had questions—thank you so much for having me on your land, I’m really grateful :)
Reasonable and quiet
This is private property with horse stalls, a house with renters and a big shed. Quiet area with a nice view of the mountains. We were able to access with our 32 ft 5th wheel. Sites are sand and aren't marked. Water was poor, unable to fill our fresh water tank. 120 V electric near horse stalls. We experienced some miscommunication between owner & tenant and were locked in when the tenant left. Host was out of town and very apologetic and agreed to make things right.
It was a super brief stay for me. I rolled in late and left early in the morning. It was as advertised! My site had a little fire ring and a turf pad for my tent. I didn't use electricity though I was given instructions on how to use it. I felt safe, no idea how safe the actual area actually is. For the basics - this was perfect.
Great night camping!
Our stay was awesome, camp site was just as described online. Ed was great since we booked on very short notice and this booking saved our trip since the state parks were closed due to covid. Our site was private from the home on the property, had a small turf patch which was nice for us and the dog, fire pit had wood waiting for us (maybe coincidentally) but still awesome. I’ll definitely stay again.
For an overnight in a pinch this will do.
No amenities is definitely not a deal breaker for me, and thank goodness i was the only camper-- until much later when a truck pulled into a secluded spot that seems to be designated for them? No problem if it is- but it would be nice to know if others are expected.
Could use a little maintenance.
