Nevermore Ranch is amazing! It's a working dog and horse rescue in a beautiful red sandstone canyon! Nathalie had about 10 horses and 10 dogs, 4 cats, and a goat, mostly roaming about trying to nuzzle us. We were the first ever public guests and the campsite wasn't fenced off from the dogs yet, but it will be soon and it's already ideal if you're sleeping in a van (we were). It is truly magical to have jealous horses surrounding you and nuzzling to get petted at your campsite in the morning. And all the animals were sooo happy and healthy! I also recommend arriving after dark so you can be blown away by the views in the morning.

Beautiful area! A lovely back-country camping experience :)

Rachel, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. If you ever head this way again, please come visit!! :-)
Wow.. very relaxed yet epic stay. Simple to find off of the highway. I called her and she led me into the ranch...
Beautiful camp site... Totally silent... Epic heard of rescued horses added to the epic mountain view. Thank you for the stay...

David, I'm so glad your family enjoyed the visit. It was such a joy to see your kids run around with pure pleasure and excitement on their faces! Maybe next time you come through if you want to stay again we can trade off.... campsite for permaculture education!! :-). p.s. the dogs enjoyed your kids too!!
Host was extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. Very beautiful area and remote enough for quiet days and dark, star filled nights!

David, so glad you and your son enjoyed your stay at Nevermore Ranch. Come again!
Nevermore Ranch is more than an idyllic retreat on a classic Southwestern red rock landscape. Yes, it has accessible hikes with stunning views and camping in the shadow of petroglyphs for the archeologically curious. But it also has rescue pooches and horses who extended a warm welcome to this wandering stranger. And it’s conveniently located for AZ-NM traffic or a straight shot north to Durango. Put it on your itinerary!

Horace! I am glad you were able to enjoy your visit despite the rain and your camper issues! I had great conversations with you and hope to see you again someday!!
Natalie has a really neat piece of land and I'm so grateful she shares this special place with not only people but unwanted animals too. The horses are friendly and politely curious. The dogs are your welcoming committee and the ducks, turkeys, chickens, and goats are so adorable! I really, really liked my stay here.
My stay was peaceful and just what I needed. There are petroglyphs right across from campsite 4, where I stayed, and if you continue along the rock you will see what appears to be inscriptions from when the Spaniards came through this area. You can hike around the entire property if you would like to move about and the stars at night are so clear, they are like beacons of hope.

Angel, I'm so happy that you enjoyed your stay! If you ever come through this way again, please come visit us!
