The JX Ranch Bunkhouse is located on our 7,000-acre cattle ranch, which we manage holistically, meaning as a whole. We rotate the cattle in one herd through the 26 pastures, giving each pasture on average 100 days rest with 5 days grazing in-between. This promotes a healthy strong root system and healthy strong grasses and other forbs. We raise all-natural grass-fed beef which we direct market to individuals. You can read more about this on leannaturalbeef dot com.
The ranch is 20 miles south of Tucumcari (on Route 66 / I-40). This is ranch country, so no stores, gas station, people or traffic. Gorgeous star filled sky at night! Better buy what you need before coming out. You have privacy and solitude. We welcome you, explain what you need to know, and leave you alone, but are mostly available if you need anything. The Cow Camp Room is the smaller of two independent and separate rooms in the Bunkhouse. It can sleep 2, has a well stocked kitchen (fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, pots pans etc.), bathroom with shower. There is a connecting door to the larger Longhorn Room (see other listing for more info) that remains locked unless guest want to rent the whole Bunkhouse. This is an old house, and not a shangri-la. It's a bit rough around the edges, but it's the real deal.

The vibe at JX Ranch Bunkhouse - Cow Camp R
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Staying at the JX Ranch Bunkhouse is so pleasant. The house is on a large, beautiful cattle ranch and your host, Mimi, is the sweetest woman around. She is not new to amazing hospitality, with so many little thoughts making your stay as pleasant as can be. The bunkhouse is split into two halves, with each side having a full kitchen and bathroom. Cow Camp sleeps two, in twin beds. The sunsets out here are amazing and the stars are captivating. I will definitely be making my way back here next time I am through the area.
