Hound Dog Homestead: The Cabin
Beautiful High Desert Homestead
This place was awesome. Super creative little cabin with tons of natural light surrounded by vibrant New Mexico high desert. Brett met us near the gate of the ranch and brought us up, showed us around the cabin, and set us on our own. The bed was clean and warm, the woodstove cozy, couch comfy, and the record selection perfect. You can drive right up to the cabin if you have skills and 4wd, but if not, parking is only 50 yards away and the road in was pretty smooth.
Would definitely come back. Make sure to show up with your own provisions as this place is pretty far back and there isn't a nearby town (we showed up with wine and snacks and were just fine).

Hound Dog Homestead: The Cabin
We loved our stay at the homestead cabin! It's remote but still accessible and the location is beautiful. The cabin and land jut up against a mesa and BLM so there is a lot to explore/hike. The cabin itself is truly amazing. It's off the grid (with a generator) and looks out over the landscape. It almost felt like being in a tree house or fire watch tower. We liked how basic but functional the cabin was and the deck was perfect for stargazing The best part of our stay was how responsive and accommodating Brett was. He provided lots of recommendations for things to do in the area and gave us plenty of peace and quiet but was only a short distance away if we needed him. This is exactly the kind of place I've been looking for in New Mexico and would definitely recommend.
