A campsite on the biggest river in the 4-corner area!
Fish the San Juan River on our ranch and have the whole river for yourself!
It is a 112 acre Icelandic Horse Ranch on the San Juan River and is located 30 miles south of Pagosa Springs, bordering NM. 1/4 mile of river is running through the property with easy access for fishing and for taking in or out with a paddle or rafting boat. This place is home to 14 Icelandic horses, chickens and a dog ... and LOTS of wildlife! On this property you can find every specie that lives in this part of the country! There are several camp sites available on the property, I will assist you with finding your perfect spot, when you get here.
There are plenty of things to do at the ranch, including fishing! Check out my website for more info: Hestar-Ranch.com
The Navajo Lake State Park is close by, and the property has a private access to Carson National Forest for horseback riding and hiking. Make sure you bring a camera, good walking shoes and sun protection for a pleasant stay. The weather can change fast, but most days are sunny and dry. I will be here when you arrive and available for any question you may have.
One thing has to be said, if the weather is bad and there is a lot of rain, it will be muddy here and you may need a 4-wheel drive, so please consider that into your plans, especially if you book early and are not able to check on the weather ahead. If good and dry weather the trailer parking close to the river is fine.

The vibe at Hestar Ranch Camp on SanJuan River
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This was an amazing experience and an honor to be able to take part in this special slice of Colorado. Her stretch of the San Juan river is gorgeous. We caught catfish and crawdads and saw enormous carp (although the big ones weren't biting). The kids had a blast catching catfish and crawdads and the river was friendly enough in high summer to wade all the way across and play in all day. Monika is a fabulous camp host and human being - welcoming, charming and very helpful and accommodating.
