This area gives you the security of private land right next to the public land. It is perfect for for hiking and biking in the day with a the opportunity to come back to a more definite home base. It is far from the roads making it quiet and peaceful at night. The road out can be confusing, so make sure to follow the instructions and picture closely.

So much open country to explore! Wish I had a dirt bike :(Rocket stove built at the camp!Perfect little fire pit. Bring some wood since it’s mainly brush and sage on the ground Cant beat these views

I would never book this campsite or any site with Rory again. The directions of how to find the campsite were not clear, for example stating the 3 landmark posts had tires on them would have been extremely helpful, and my friend and I circled the Mesa for over an hour and could not find the campsite. A bigger or visible sign PERIOD with the name of the ranch would have made a huge difference. Maybe some lights? Also, it would have been nice to have known we'd be on dirt roads; make sure you have 4 wheel drive. We contacted the host, who was not even local, and he recited the directions we already had from the booking. Not helpful. Finally we gave up and found a BLM public place to camp. Do yourself a favor and save your money by NOT booking this site.

I gave her detailed directions, gps cooridinates, maps showing the route and photo reference that was already in the listing(like the tires on the posts at the parking area). I repeated the directions given on the site because there isn't another way there, its 2 turns, park and walk 30 yards from tge Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. 99% of guests between here and my listing elsewhere don't have a problem and some even compliment the directions. Every once in a while, I get a guest that can't follow directions, or read a map. This was one of them. Or she had already made her mind up about BLM land and it just mad I wouldn't refund her. When she called me, it wasn't asking for help, it was demanding a refund because she couldn't find it but hey, who am I to say for sure what it actually was.. My directions are solid, I don't refund people who don't follow them.
