Nestled in the hills just a stone's throw from the Delaware River, historic Tullamore Farms preserves agricultural traditions and incorporates responsible farming practices. By utilizing timeless methods of rotationally grazing livestock and high quality animal care and humane handling, a foundation for the future of sustainable farming in Hunterdon Country is being laid. Once managed by agriculturist and philanthropist Lloyed Wescott, the farm was the setting for an state-of-the-art diary operation in the middle 20th century. First established by Colonel John Reading, the land has been agriculturally oriented for hundreds of years. Jeanmarie Mitchell has been running and operating the farm for 17 years and began transitioning it to organic and sustainable methods in 2009. In 2014, she opened the farm up to the pubic, introducing agri-tourism, selling farm products and inviting chefs to operate culinary enterprises using farm raised and local products.

Lodge on Sustainable Farm
Visiting the lodge at Tullamore Farms was a fantastic experience. Taking a weekend trip to the lodge is the perfect get away if you are looking to have a good experience in an open outdoor space with the sound of animals, and access to near by trails and outdoor activities. This lodge is a perfect way to make the best of a rainy afternoon or evening. Lighting the fire and grabbing a cozy blanket to listen to jazz on the record player is extremely soothing. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to make a simple breakfast or decadent baked goods, all you have to do is bring the groceries. There are two rooms available with comfortable mattresses and bedding, each room holding plenty of sunlight. In the living room there is a cozy couch, flat screen TV and floor to ceiling windows creating the perfect ambiance. The bathroom has a shower, bathtub, washer, dryer, and plenty of soaps, shampoos, conditioners for your needs. The house is stocked with clean towels so there is no need to pack your own. The highlight of the property is the spacious backyard, equipped with a fire pit, benches, lanterns, and citronella candles. During our stay we spotted rabbits, deer, and ground hogs. We had the pleasure of playing a good game of settlers of Catan (a group favorite) and a few leisure games of catch! The options are endless with the amount of green space. The lodge is located on several acres owned by the host Jeanmarie. There is a functioning farm that is well kept on site however, there is no interactions with animals or the farm facilities, outside of the farm store. Though you may spot a few chickens or sheep roaming the grounds freely, like we did. The farm store is quant and carries a variety of meat, oils, and dairy products. While visiting the lodge you might want to check out the Delaware River Canal, local art shops, scenic preserves, or antique shops! If you need anything else the lodge's lovely host JeanMarie will guide you in the right direction. She is wealth of knowledge and has plenty to share with her guest!
