The tent site situated beneath a canopy of two large Red Oak trees. This property was formerly a farm and has since grown back to a pioneer Hardwood Forest. There are stone rows throughout the farm and some areas that have been cleared of invasive vegetation and planted with native grasses to enhance the deer population.

Host was super friendly and helpful- offering tomatoes from garden, provided Lots of firewood, suggested hiking trails in the area and offered hay for under tent for comfort (but didn’t need since the camp site was groomed and didn’t have rocks/tree stumps). Great fire pit already set with wood.
You are camping in woods of owners rental property. Very private. Lots of space so could multiple tents if host would allow. We didn’t have group so don’t know. There’s a big open field next to campsite in woods where can sit out and have great star gazing and maybe see deer. There’s a decent amount of woods you can walk around. We made like 15-20 minute
Loop but there may have been even more on other side of site. Up a few minutes it backs up to someone else’s property (but it’s just a big wooded area too didn’t see the neighbors house just noticed private property signs while hiking around). Saw a few deer. Host said there are black bears in the area but they won’t bother you but Suggest leave food in car when you sleep. Didn’t see any though.
Be aware you probably need all wheel drive/a little clearance on you car if you want to drive right up to your camp site cause rather big rocky hill up to site. If not, you will need to walk up. It’s only about 5 minute walk up, but it’s all up hill so...they have bathroom and shower in small cabin down near the house so if you want to use you can drive down or will be an up hill walk back to site. For now the shower is outside (privacy fine with 3 walls and one side city curtain.) but nice hot water. Toilet in the cabin. Host is planning eventually to fix up cabin (which has shower inside just needs finishing) to rent so not sure plan for bathroom for primitive campers then).
Amazing stay! Absolutely will be back!
Stephens place was wonderful. He and his wife were very kind and showed us to our site. They already had a fire going for us which was awesome. There was plenty of fire wood for us too. The site felt private and comfortable. There was a nice fire pit and a big large comfy rock to sit on and cook on. We had a great hipcamp stay here.
The camp site was very well maintained with room for 3 small tents, a fire pit and great natural seating. The host Steve showed us to the campsite and provided enough firewood for fires in the evening and the next morning.
We had such a lovely stay here! It was our little family of four and we stayed one night. The area was very private, a couple hundred yards up his very long driveway. We had our own little spot that he had cleared away of all brush and debris. He showed us the spot, then gave us our privacy. There was a spot for our tents, then a separate little area for a fire. There was even several natural rock areas for us to sit on or put our food on. He had a little pit toilet for us as well. This was our first experience with Hipcamp, and it was a great one! We will definitely be back! Thanks Stephen!
My friend and I had a wonderful time at Stephen B.'s campsite! Stephen was extremely responsive and even made a fire for us before we arrived. The campsite itself is beautiful, would highly recommend!
Twin Oaks was amazing! Very secluded with a nice manicured set up. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the weekend. The cedar firewood provided on site made for a beautiful smell. The stars poked through all of the trees. We’ll definitely be back in the future! Don’t let the sound of wolves fool you, there’s a wolf sanctuary nearby and it made for something you don’t usually hear in NJ. We didn’t get much hiking in but we definitely will next time.
