Description

The popular Sugarloaf II Campground at the base of Mount Washington makes for the perfect rustic getaway spot. People love it thanks to the ample recreation opportunities, particularly the excellent hiking. As an added bonus, the campground is right on the banks of the picturesque Ammonoosuc River—which cuts through the thick, pristine forests that surround this entire area. Some of the sites are even perched on top of a ridge, and others have great views of the surrounding mountains.

Sugarloaf II was a great find. Located just off highway 302. It is a quiet campground with some sites overlooking the Zealand River. We camped here in mid-September and nearly had the entire campground to ourselves. Sugarloaf II offers a true escape into nature. It is also located near the Zealand Trailhead (by car). The beginning of the Zealand Trail is a bit technical with lots of boulders making it not the best trail for dogs. For people, the trail is easy-moderate.
