Nestled on a small piece of private land in Dorchester, New Hampshire, just minutes from the western areas of the White Mountain National Forest. The Rivendell ARToretum provides a unique tenting experience that combines art and nature. Our choice of two exclusive sites will have you staying in a wide meadow that offers full views of the night sky or directly next to the river in secluded forest privacy.
While small in size, the property is located next to 1000 acres of wild state forest. There are very few marked trails, which makes it perfect for those looking to get out into some pristine woodlands. Also nearby in town is the very extensive Green Woodlands mountain bike trail network. There is also D Acres Educational Farm which hosts many events, workshops and offers meals and fresh produce. Campers will also be in close proximity (within 40 mins) to some major New Hampshire attractions.
Our sites are located close to the parking area and generally offer a cleared grass/moss mix to stay on. There is a fire pit for both sites as well as a community fire place for all guests to gather.
* Well behaved pets are okay! There are dogs who live on the property and next door. You will be required to keep them on leash while at camp. The lower forest area is ok for off-leash.*

Loved River Plateau! This place is owned and ran by Eric’s dad. He is so friendly and very passionate about the area and land he owns. It is a great and beautiful area that butts up to a state park. I think the listing said there was wifi but we couldn’t access any - which is okay - we were just hoping to plan for a hike the next day and look up directions etc. Would recommend this place! We had our dog with us as well, their dogs were friendly and ran around with ours. Thanks for the great stay and hospitality!
Little slice of heaven!
This site was so perfect that I thought about giving it a lousy review so that it would be available next time I want to go! it was a perfect spot on the river. The owner was very accommodating and allowed me to pull my overlander right in so I could use my rooftop tent. It was right off the road which worried me at first, but only three cars passed in the two days that I was there. It is only a few minutes down the road from Mt. Cardigan which is is a great hike and there are spectacular views from the top. No cell service, so download the directions on google maps, or Gaia. (You may want to do this for any travel in the area.) I will definitely stay HERE whenever I am in that neck of the woods.
The perfect mountain hideout
This campsite was the perfect hidden getaway. Tucked in the trees with a river running down below the site, this place was so peaceful. The moss-covered tent site made it extremely comfortable to sleep on, and the constant flowing river below helped ease you into sleep. The trails intertwined around the property that lead you down to the river and swimming hole are so amazing to explore. And with no noise other than the river, this place is one of the most peaceful spots I've been to.
Honestly this is simply a grassy spot at the end of a driveway in rural NH. I did not feel safe staying alone with my dog so we drove 3 hours home after the disappointing ‘tent site.’
This place is beautiful, and exceeded my expectations. My wife and I weren’t able to meet Eric, but we did meet his dad. He was very generous and welcoming, helping us set up our tent and even provided us a tarp for the upcoming rainy days. Overall, this was a pleasant experience and I highly recommend this site!
Best camping spot ever
This place is amazing!!! Hosts were great, the property is beautiful especially the campsite by the water. Was the perfect spot for us and we thoroguhly enjoyed speaking with and getting to know Erics dad, the property owner. Would love to stay again.
