Pretty standard camper in the woods. Place was clean and simple. Lots of pots and pans to use. AC was not the best, and there was a bit of an odd smell, but overall a nice place, and the host was super friendly.
The real draw here is the access to the waterfalls. Less than a five minute drive, or a really steep hillside scramble away, the falls were roaring and beautiful. On a warm day, you can swim at the base and jump in from some of the nearby rocks. Also a fun little wall to scramble up.
"Glamping Without the Glitz" - Our stay in Vinny's camper this August went beyond our expectations. First, what the description of the site doesn't make clear is that this piece of property is RIGHT next to the river, and only a few hundred feet from the waterfalls - you can literally hear them from the porch! There is a steep hill that goes from the edge of the fire-pit down to the river/waterfalls, and while it's not an easy hike, it's definitely doable in hiking boots and only takes a few minutes. There's also an easier path down that takes 10-15 minutes.
Let's talk about the environment - you cannot ask for anywhere more serene, peaceful, and private than Vinny's property. There is VERY LIMITED cell phone reception and no WiFi and no TV, so if you don't like going off-the-grid and want to stay connected to the world, either be ready to go into town when you want to make calls or stay somewhere else. But if you want to turn off, relax, and truly take in the beauty of nature, this place is for you. You're right in the thick of it, from the constant sounds of the waterfall to the lush forest that surrounds the site. Vinny has built a massive two-tier porch that wraps around the front of the camper, and it really allows you to take advantage of the environment while relaxing on site. We spent a large portion of our time hanging out on the porch, simply listening to the birds and the water and reading, so if you like that sort of thing, then this place is like heaven. On one side of the camper there's also a little path that leads to two chairs, which look directly out to onto the waterfalls (gorgeous - highly recommend this spot when drinking your morning cup), and to top it off there's also a fire-pit, which Vinny had already started setting up for us when we arrived, and spare firewood. It's easy to use and the stone wall that wraps around one side helps keep the flames in check. The rock-chairs and wood table were really cool details that made the little area incredibly charming and definitely picture-worthy when accompanied by some s'mores.
Now to the camper - we were so pleasantly surprised to find so many thoughtful and helpful amenities around the camper. First, it feels much bigger than it looked in the pictures. You rarely feel cramped, and even though my husband is 6'5", he moved around comfortably, fit in the shower, and even fit on the king-size bed, which was a blessing in itself. The daybed in the living room was comfortable and there was plenty of space to put our luggage in the same area. The bathroom was more than we could have asked for - it was stocked with tons of towels and extra linens, pillows, and blankets, had a standard toilet, and a decent-sized shower with plenty of hot water. For the size of the camper, the bedroom was amazing; it had a real king-sized bed that was very comfortable, really nice, clean linens, and a full set of drawers. Added bonus were some jazzy lightbulbs with red flames by the head of the bed.
We were able to cook all of our meals since the kitchen was well stocked (all the things you wouldn't think of or could forget to bring but would need - can openers, wine bottle openers, pots and pans, storage containers, lots of cutlery, etc.), to the extent that you could really make anything, even in the small space. There was also a coffee machine, so bring some ground coffee! The stove and oven both work well and the sink is big enough to wash dishes easily. There's a grill outside and inside we found all the grill equipment and even tin foil, which we never would have remembered otherwise. There were also long-reach lighters, flashlights, candles, bug spray, cleaning supplies, and other helpful items around the camper. Again, I can't stress enough how nice it was to find the place stocked with so much gear.
Overall, our stay was amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Vinny was friendly, helpful, and very accommodating, and was there to greet us when we arrived. It was the perfect romantic weekend in the woods and we truly can't wait to come back next time we're in New England!
Biggest recommendation: bring some books and a good pair of hiking boots! You really don't need much else at the end of the day.
Our stay at Waterfalls Getaway was simply magical! We spent our long weekend swimming at the gorgeous Profile Falls, exploring the trails right outside our front door, enjoying the epic views, and indulging in the silence, serenity, and peace surrounding this property.
Vinny and I spoke through text the morning of our arrival. He told us to make ourselves at home when we made it and he would be up to see us to go over things. Vinny is a lovely host. He's friendly, patient, and kind. He made me feel welcome and very comfortable. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and shared lots of information with us to help make the best of our stay.
We were amazed at how beautiful and well kept the property was. There is a stunning half moon fire pit to enjoy, while sitting at an incredible table made out of a tree stump in two chairs made out of rock. It fits in the natural landscape so perfectly, reminding you that you're surrounded by beautiful forest and waterfalls along the Smith River. Vinny provided firewood for our whole weekend and there is plenty of kindling material on site. This alone saved us $5-$20 a night on firewood! The deck attached to this camper is unbelievable, we spent lots of time enjoying this space. There is so much room to find the perfect spot; whether you enjoy reading, sunning, relaxing in the shade, nature watching, even yoga. The way this camper is perched on the mountainside, you almost feel like you're in a treehouse. You can see the falls through the trees and hear them clearly. I couldn't have asked for a better outdoor space.
As we entered this glamorous, IMMACULATE, camper we were greeted by soft music playing. I really enjoyed this feature, there is a control right as you enter the camper and can be turned off with the push of a button. Everything in this camper is done with purpose and such attention to detail.Impressive is an understatement. Vinny is a brilliant craftsman. There is a bench made of exotic wood as you enter that is the perfect place to sit and listen to the falls. I was in love with the bench and views. A beautiful antique-faced electric fireplace is there to keep warm on cool nights. The sconces above the daybed are breathtaking. All of the lighting is worth noting. Perfect dining space with two chairs and a complete kitchen with everything you can think of. The oven and stove worked perfectly and having a full fridge is a bonus! There was even ice in the freezer for us! There is a grill on the deck that we were welcome to use.
The bathroom has good space with a medicine cabinet, closet and plenty of fresh linens for your stay. Everything smelled so fresh and clean. The towels even had my Last Name's initial, not sure if this was a coincidence or on purpose. I thought it was thoughtful, classy, and it made me smile. The bedroom is incredible. The super comfy King size bed is nestled in the pop out nook. The linens and pillows on the bed are beautiful, comfortable, and CLEAN. Above the bed, on each side are sconces with light bulbs that flicker like candles. I've never seen anything like the window sill in the bedroom. It is something out of a magazine. The colors used on the walls and the decor throughout the camper are elegant and tasteful. Burnt oranges, deep, dark purples, every little thing is special about this site; inside and out. It's an oasis in the woods, a place I've dreamed of but never thought I'd find. It's easy to forget you are in a camper in the woods. It's just that comfortable and beautiful.
Every morning we brought breakfast and our binoculars to this sweet spot overlooking the falls. There were two Adirondack Chairs placed among the trees. We were lucky enough to catch two eagles soaring above us. We really loved our quiet mornings there. If you are a hiker you can scale the hillside to get to the falls right from the property. There are trails at your doorstep. We found it much easier with our cooler and swimming gear to take the 2 minute drive and park next to the trailhead. It's a very easy, short hike to the falls and swimming hole from there, maybe 1/4 of a mile. Swimming in the falls was incredible. It's rocky and slippery, so be careful getting in and out, but worth every minute. There are plenty of other places along the river to stop and splash around and picnic as well. The town of Bristol has a Hannaford's, Dunkin Donuts, and restaurants and is only about 5minutes away. There is so much to explore and check out on the property and around the area, you will not be disappointed!
A couple things I recommend you bring to maximize your fun-a good pair of hiking boots, water shoes, snorkel gear, binoculars, and of course your camera!
Waterfalls Getaway was one of the best weekends of my life. Vinny and his wife do an amazing job making sure you have everything you need to make your stay comfortable and special. I will never forget my first visit to Getaway Falls and I am already planning my next trip back!
Outstanding! beautiful location!
I can’t speak highly enough about Vinny’s place! The location is stunningly beautiful, perched on a hillside over Profile Falls. We had lots of fun hiking to and from the falls, swimming and just relaxing by the water. The property is thoughtfully designed with several nice outdoor sitting areas - we especially enjoyed the Adirondack chairs pictured, with a great view of the mountains and falls.
The camp itself is great - very clean, cozy, comfortable. It accommodated our group of four easily. The full kitchen made for some great meals! Vinny was very friendly and helpful when we arrived!
The surrounding area also had some great breweries that we enjoyed!
We use airbandb and hipcamp pretty regularly- this is a truly unique camp that should not be missed. We hope to come back soon!!!
Very comfortable cabin next to a beautiful waterfall that easily accommodates three people. The host was very friendly and provided a few tips on sites to visit and activities in the area. We did not expect the cabin to be this well equipped: AC, towels, pots, pans, spices, trash bags, soap, shampoo, wood, etc.
If walking down to the waterfalls through the steep hillside, watch out for the bees. We found out about them the hard way :)
Overall, I strongly recommend this cabin!
Vinny is a gifted craftsman and land architect. The level of care he has invested in creating this exquisite retreat is exquisite. Vinny’s knowledge of the area (lakes, rivers and falls) and relationships throughout the community (Wicked NH, The Big Catch and Walker Farms) are super helpful. The area is rich with noteworthy nature. Vinny’s place took our breath away and left us feeling energized and relaxed. He has plans to create additional nooks for outdoorsy guests. We will definitely be back. Thank you, Vinny!
Sorry for the delay in the review, but our trip was amazing!! The host Vinny was super nice and friendly, he truly cares about making sure that you have a great stay. The grounds are incredibly scenic and private. My girlfriend and I had a magical weekend away and will definitely be coming back to stay here again! Thanks Vinny!
Incredible stay in cozy nh woods
This place is AMAZING! We stayed in one of Vinny’s cabins since the camper was closed for the winter. You pull up to rear the roaring waterfall, and the sights do not disappoint. The cabin is beautiful, very well-kept, immaculately clean, and oh-so-cozy. The electric fireplace was incredible after a long day of winter hiking. This cabin is so close to the whites, as well as a few towns in case you need any supplies. All of the beds are super comfy, the kitchen is great, and check in was an absolute breeze. Our group had some serious car issues, which messed up our plans—Vinny was incredibly helpful and accommodating, which we so appreciated. Thanks for an amazing stay, Vinny!
Wonderful waterfall glamping
Everything is taken care of in this wonderful waterfall glamping experience.
The accommodations were great--comfy King bed, clean bathroom and shower, stocked kitchen with all that you could need (stove, fridge, dishes, pots and pans, silverware...), a bbq outside that we used both days we stayed, and a nice-sized area to hang out inside in case of inclement weather (which we avoided luckily). Vinny pre-set up the fire with firestarters like leaves underneath a wood pile, and I thought that was super thoughtful.
We spent a day at the waterfalls and that was the highlight of the trip. We swam and sunned. Such a nice escape. We also hiked a little bit around the area, and with more time, could have definitely done more. For lunch on the day we left, we stopped by The Big Catch in Bristol by recommendation of Vinny. Both the food and the view were great.
Wonderful weekend getaway with a waterfall that I will have to bring back other friends and family to experience!
