                                                   About The Area

Camp North is located directly on the "North Country ATV Trail System", the "Stratford Nighthawks Snowmobile Club Trail System", AND, the "Ride The Wilds" trail system. Access over 1000 miles of ATV trails right from camp. There are many fantastic lake, river and mountain vista destinations within half day round trips from Camp North.

Just down the road, on the Connecticut River is a "Connecticut River Paddlers Club", canoe/kayak launch, at the "Maidstone Bridge". (with sign in box). Half day and whole day trips are available. You can put in up river and do half day or whole day river trips back to Maidstone Bridge OR put in at Maidstone Bridge and paddle south. NOTE: this section of river is the only primitive section of the entire Connecticut rivers length. Most years, including this year, there is an active Osprey nest atop the Maidstone Bridge. (we can help with shuttle service)

There are many trout fishing opportunities in local lakes, ponds, streams and rivers. We have a small private trout pond where kids can feed our brook trout and do "catch and release" fishing. There is a rec room with pool table and music system at the host's office, for campers use.

Louis was a very kind and friendly host super helpful with info for the surrounding area and a great person to chat with! Definitely out there and secluded if that's what you're looking for

This campsite was wonderful. Such an amazing view and the most gorgeous sunset I’ve ever seen. The stars were so bright!! Perfect amount of space and all the amenities you’d ever need (shower; toilet, solar sink, tiki torches, electric, WiFi, and more...) Louie was awesome and so generous- very welcoming and friendly. Best area to hike in. It’s pretty “out there” which we loved!

Louis was an exceptional host for our group visiting Camp North in July. The site was level and spacious with plenty of room for parking. It had a picnic table, charcoal grill, and a beautiful view of the mountains and stars. He provided plenty of water, firewood, and a dish and wash station among other amenities. Guests are welcomed to visit the rec room with pool table. The site is located next to the host’s home, so not especially private, but luckily he is a friendly guy and we didn’t mind being close by! The location is great for off the beaten trail NH hiking and visiting beautiful Christine Lake.

First off, let's talk about the host, Louie. He is funny, welcoming, and considerate. He gave us a tour, showed us the amenities, and made sure we were comfortable. He thoughtfully provided pieces of plywood for our kickstands once he knew we were arriving on motorcycles. Later that night he came out to our campfire to ask if any of us wanted to jam with him. We said yes, and I'm glad we didn't miss the opportunity. Louie is a fantastic musician!
The space had plenty of room for all five of our 1-man tents, and there were no big rocks or roots to contend with. There was plenty of fresh spring water on hand, and Louie loaned us a cooler for our beer. We checked out his trout pond and marveled at the views of the mountains in the distance.

Camp North exceeded all expectations! The site was cozy and included several “glamping” features such as a picnic table, fire pit, grill, privy, and solar shower. The two ponds were a nice bonus. Louie is so kind and interesting to talk with and he has many recommendations for local hiking, fishing, and kayaking. Be sure to spend some time in the rec room too if you have a chance. We will definitely be staying again!
