In 1887, James and Agnes Morrison bought the 80 acre Antelope Valley Ranch. James and Agnes raised four children, together the family worked raising cattle, gardening, farming and hay crops.  Passed down through generations, our grandfather Robert Martin and great Uncle Albert Englebright  (James and Anges Morrison's grandsons) continued the operation that is known today as Martin Ranch. Martin Ranch remains family owned and operated. Now into it's 6th generation of operation, the traditions and family values are impressed upon our growing family.   Cattle roam the open range among wild horses, Pronghorn Antelope, Mule Deer and Rocky Mountain Elk. Spring and Fall Round Ups bring us all together sharing in the same traditions that were practiced years ago.  Branding Irons glow hot in campfires, calves bellow for Momma's, lariat ropes twirling, dust rising, the cowboy way continues. A way of life not all forgotten, but a real way of life for our families. Meals are harvested from the garden outside our front door, home raised beef and the family recipes passed down from Great Grandma are still shared with loved ones around the table. A spirit of welcoming home, a place where memories are made and dreams live on.

The Aspen Grove
My plans changed and I was unable to make it to Aspen Grove But, Amber, the host was very accommodating and understanding and helpful with setting up different arrangements.

The Wapiti
The ranch is awesome, simply put. Tucked in a high alpine meadow with aspen groves and pinyon and juniper forest. It was an original homestead and very cool for Vicki and her family to share such a special place. I can't imagine how much hard work it is for them, but so lucky to be able to enjoy and relax there. So far from anything, you will be rewarded for making the long drive to a place in Nevada not many people know exists.

The Aspen Grove
About 25 miles in from the 50 fwy, the drive to Martin Ranch is worth it. It’s and off the grid, family owned property they have had for generations. Vickie my host was very kind and hospitable. My small hatchback wasn’t too low for the drive to the campsite, so she gave me a ride. But it was less than a half a mile hike away, which I trekked back easily when I returned to my car. The meadow I camped in was beautiful with lots to explore if you’re up for a hike. I stayed with my little dog with basically no wildlife to worry about. For those looking for absolute peace and quiet at night, I definitely recommend it.
