I absolutely loved this campsite! Chris and Abby are super cool, and the animals are adorable! They have goats, chickens, bunnies, pigs, and even a rescued baby deer. Petting the animals was a lot of fun, and the views were amazing!
Chris and Abby have an amazing site! True to their description they have a wonderful private mountain with endless views of the Rockies. When we arrived Chris drove out to greet us and took us on a guided tour of the property. After showing us several sites we settled on a cozy little spot where Chris and Abby had cleared a nice soft pad of ground which fit a 4 man tent, a fire pit, and a good size pile of dry wood for us to burn! The night was fantastic as we watched shadows creep across the valley and sat around a very cozy campfire, listening to the farm animals just down the road. We were told that the sun was going to rise directly across the valley from us, and we made sure we were up in time to watch the sunrise. Wow. The views and pictures you can get in this location are absolutely beautiful. Chris had asked us the night before if we would like coffee and breakfast, and the next morning, a little after sunrise they came over with a platter of coffee, cream and sugar. As we sipped on that and packed up our site, they cooked and brought us over a wonderful breakfast burrito each made with eggs they collect from the hens they keep on the property! On our way out we chatted with them and spent a bit of time with the animals they have on their property. On our way out Chris even gave us directions to take for a much more scenic drive to our next spot! I would absolutely come back to this location again without a second thought. Chris and Abby have plans to expand their location with a few tent covering sites and eventually cabins! I can't wait to see what they do in the future with this spot!
You must stay here!!
This site was amazing! Chris and his wife are incredible hosts. I would love to stay at this site again. The town is so cute and the view from the campsite is also incredible. Chris gave us great recommendations for hikes and coffee. They even let us borrow their hammock! They are super accommodating and make the stay so enjoyable.
Just book it already!
Our stay was nothing short of perfect. Chris went above and beyond to make us feel safe and comfortable. Upon arriving we were met out by the road and given a tour of the property and got to meet Chris’s pet goats. After inquiring about fishing nearby Chris led the way to a beautiful fishing spot that we spent a great deal of time at over the following days. We were offered fresh pressed coffee in the mornings and learned a great deal about the area from our excellent host.
We originally booked this site with the intentions of using it as a base camp for our time in Glacier National Park, but spent much more time exploring the area around our camp than we did in the actual park. Easy drive to the park and Whitefish.
The views from the private mountain were stunning and after a week of travel and staying in crowded public camps this was a welcome surprise.
Full montana experience
The hosts are both such awesome people. The view from our tent was incredible. And we loved their dogs Bill and Coco. They also have these two adorable goats that we fell in love with. They live right by a beautiful river where we went fishing. We got a true Eureka local Montana experience and I’m so happy we stayed here.
1000% stay here
Beautiful spot in the mountains! Whether youre looking to just chill or explore some amazing nature, this place is the best. Its the best of both worlds being close to a town and close to lots of outdoor rec sites. Chris and Abby are also the BEST!! Also, they have 2 free roaming goats that became my besties.
Honestly, Chris was great. He communicated affectively. But my overall camping experience wasn’t great. When I arrived I told him I wasn’t tent camping but car camping so he explained that the great views listed on this post are only able to be seen if I were in a tent so he suggested a public campground near by with a view and I agreed to check it out. I had been traveling cross country checking out all of the National Parks so I was super down for a good view. He told me the road back to this spot was really rough and gave me a walkie and told me to let him know if it was too rough and we could turn around. It was really rough but I decided to keep on so I could check out this alleged amazing spot. We get there and I decided to stay and Chris left. I should have listened to my gut that was telling me to get the hell out of there. I’m a woman who is traveling alone and wants to feel safe and I was the only one out there. I found a lot of trash, ripped clothing, some bones I assumed were animals. But I went against my gut and stayed anyways. Around 1:30 in the morning a car tore down the road and came over to where I was camped. Drove around my car twice, parked down by the water and shined their lights at me for a few minutes, I could see someone walking around. Then they came back up and parked next to me and shined their lights at me and then left. At first I thought they were looking for a camp spot but there was plenty of room for someone else. After they left I was really scared, it made me feel extremely uneasy, so I also left and drove to the nearest hotel in the middle of the night. Chris let me know he took another guest there before and they reported him to Hipcamp and I told him I wouldn’t tell. However, after my experience I would like other people to hear it Incase they too are traveling alone and don’t want to feel unsafe at their camp site. Also, I still had to pay the $40 something that he charges for his campsite and I didn’t even stay on it. I could have stayed at this public sight for free but instead was scared off and still charged. Be careful if he suggests this to you. Do your research before staying there. And definitely don’t drive back on the road unless you have an suv or truck with 4 wheel drive. Sorry Chris. I won’t be staying there again.
A wonderful place to stay
Chris and Abby were great hosts. They were very accommodating, gave local recommendations, and really made us feel welcomed while still respecting privacy. The site had an amazing view and a fire pit and a hammock. They also had two adorable and friendly goats who we loved to play with.
Chris and Abby were great hosts. They were extremely accommodating and shared all sorts of local knowledge which made our visit even better. Hurry up and book this place!
