About Remote Prairie Teepee
Enjoy the solitude of our ranch when you sleep in our teepee that sits inside an authentic Blackfeet teepee ring. This ring of rocks was placed by Blackfeet women sometime around 1750 when they acquired horses to pack their belongings. This is a summer teepee site, set up on a hill, away from mosquitoes and deer flies. You can sit outside the teepee to watch wildlife or venture down into the coulee to explore prairie plants, geology and wildlife. You might see a coyote, whitetail doe and fawns, or even a grizzly (not very often though). The sunrise will greet you through the teepee door. Step outside, turn around and bask in the spectacular view of the Rocky Mountain Front. You will feel like you can reach up and touch the stars at night.
We will meet you at our ranch gate and lead you to the teepee site. We'll be driving on a 2-track trail for about a half mile. Low to the ground cars might suffer.
We have a no-water toilet with a small personal tent for privacy near the teepee. We provide a 5-gallon jug of water for your use and 2 cots. The teepee comfortably sleeps 2 adults. Four can squeeze in. Please bring your own bedding and cooking utensils.
Our guardian dogs might come to visit you. These Akbash-Great Pyronese sisters protect our sheep from coyotes and other predators. They are friendly with people, but might be nervous about your dog. You might hear them barking in the distance at night. Don't worry. They are warning potential intruders to keep moving away from their sheep.
