Beautiful site! Me and my friend really wanted to go camping but could find anywhere that was open. As two young women, we were a little nervous going out on our own to a strangers backyard, but they were super nice and helpful. The site was very well-kept and overlooked a beautiful pond. Overall we felt really comfortable and had a great experience!
My boyfriend Zach and I had the greatest time camping here! We where there less than 5 minutes and I was hugging a baby goat! Ken showed us around and had amazing fresh eggs and elderberries available for purchase and threw in fresh apples and pears from the neighbor! The location was amazing and remote, extremely relaxing and well worth the trip! Will absolutely be coming back!!
This was amazing and well worth the trip! Within five minutes of our arrival I was hugging a baby goat😍 Ken was an amazing host he even had fresh eggs and elderberries for sale and even threw in some fresh apples and pears !! The site was amazing, easily accessible and extremely private. We will definitely be booking again soon!
Night under the stars
I absolutely loved my night of camping at the Purdue Farm! The property was beautiful and secluded, Ken was super helpful, and the campsite is a great set up. I will definitely be returning to this beautiful farm.
This stay was fantastic. Fire pit and wood was perfect to cook with and amount of wood was generous. We enjoyed all the trees around us and the canoe was fun to get out on the pond. It's private, kept up, and a great place to get away to. Ken was there to greet and see us off and very friendly.
Amazing primitive camping!
What an amazing weekend! We needed a last-minute getaway for our family and we chose Purdue Homestead and we are so glad we did! Ken was absolutely wonderful and saw to any need we had, the campsite was clean and they had just mowed the morning before we came. It is 100% primitive, so if you’re not used to that make sure you’re prepared LOL. No showers, Toilets, or running water (as advertised) so bring the necessity’s, especially if you’re coming with children as we did. There’s a pond just down from the campsite that you can fish or canoe in, if you’re going to canoe, you make sure you bring your own lifevests. Very close to Smithville Lake if you wanted to fish in a bigger area. We all slept great on the property, we definitely heard some wildlife but Ken also has a very large dog that patrols the grounds and nothing Bothered us at all our entire weekend. We didn’t see a single critter other than a bunny that hopped through our campsite on our last day. It was really wonderful having so much privacy and we had a blast sitting out around the fire and being able to actually see stars in the sky LOL. They also have firewood available to purchase, I highly recommend you taking them up on it! It’s only five dollars a bundle and the bundles are way bigger than anything you’ll pick up at the store. They had it waiting for us at the campsite when we got there, it saved so much room in our vehicle and it was great burning wood! On our way out Ken hooked us up with some farm fresh eggs and Amish bread (they have a farmers market, which is awesome!!!) Such a sweet host and we will definitely be back again this summer! Thank you Perdue Homestead for an amazing weekend away!
Great start, again!
2nd time camping and it was great again. Ken was very accommodating with arrival and ensured our wood was cut and at the campsite when we arrived. It was a very stormy night at Ken checked on us the next morning to make sure we were okay. Beautiful spot and will definitely return. Thank you, Ken!
