Hart Creek Retreat, is located just outside of Hartsburg, Missouri with quick access to the Katy Trail, Missouri River, and Hart Creek Conservation Access Trails. There are over 160 acres to find the camping area to your liking. The land stretches from low land creek areas and hollers up to wooded hills.  It is flanked with large flat and prairie lands and features a large spring fed pond full of fish (mostly perch) with a beach for swimming and a couple kayaks.  Forest lands provide micro waterfalls, fern gullies, and a healthy variety of native trees and plants.  These woods will lead you to the high ridge, which includes a rocky outlook point. You will find all kinds of wildlife here! The land is certified organic. The Katy Trail is wonderful for cyclists and 1.5 miles away which makes for a easy ride to the Hartsburg access of the trail. More hiking is available very close by at Hart Creek Conservation Area.  These trails are amazing with long hikes to the bluffs that overlook the Missouri River and stunning views!  If you want to bring a boat, the mighty Missouri River is close by with Hartsburg River Access point less than 4 miles away.  Residents enjoy boating up river to Cooper's Landing for a cold brew and gorgeous sunsets.

We had a great time on Lizzie’s property! It is easy to access (even with a compact car), and she was at the barn to kindly greet us and show us the lay of the land (with a very cool hand-painted map!). Our dog ran around and explored the area while we made a fire and cooked dinner. We enjoyed the pond and the trails to explore on, but our favorite part of the trip was looking up at the clear, starry sky at night, listening to the wind and coyotes. We will definitely be back again to stay at Jemerson Creek this summer at “Armadillo Holler.” One extra thing that impressed us from our host Lizzie: we are two female campers and really appreciated that she informed us of a man also camping on the property—she wanted to make sure us ladies felt safe, and we did. Thanks, Lizzie!

This place is really well kept! Lizzie was really helpful and knowledgeable about the place. There were some nice walks around the property. If you bring a dog, watch out for snakes!

Our "party" of 5 stayed on Lizzie's land night for one night for a much needed (quick + safe) adventure. We stayed in the Walnut Grove overlooking the pond. There were two other parties staying on the property but campsites were well spread out. The space works well for car camping (bring all your camping comforts) and can easily fit 2-3 medium-sized tents.

We went kayaking in nearby Hart Creek. Not the most ideal for kayaking right now, but still a fun adventure. Looking out from the back our campsite in Walnut grove. A map of the property. Looking out from the front our campsite in Walnut grove.

Our stay at Hart Creek Retreat was amazing. Lizzie very accommodating. Our campsite was secluded and very quiet. We stayed here before biking the Katy Trail. I am very glad that we did. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We had a wonderful time! The property has an artsy vibe, is well-maintained for campers, and has enough space for folks to spread out and enjoy nature. We hiked the nearby conservation area, which is just around the corner. For birders, there are LOTS of birds on the property. At night, you'd go to sleep to the sound of the owl and the coyotes. We will be back.
