1855 Campground is a private natural preserve, dedicated to fostering the natural Ozark experience. This is primitive camping at its best. Each campsite is isolated from view from your neighbor. This will enhance your camping experience. This land borders the Mark Twain National Forest, so hiking is abundant and encouraged. A small lake is onsite for swimming and fishing. (A fishing license is required.) There is No Diving from the dock. Brushy Creek runs along side the property, suppling the babbling brook sound.

Johnson Shut-Ins and Elephant Rocks State Parks are close by for your pleasure. Within driving distance there are several other areas of interest, like Peck's Ranch for elk watching. At the West Fork of the Black River, there's a public access for swimming and fishing, Small mouth bass and rock bass are what the locals usually fish for.

Here at 1855 Campground, again, we offer various campsites. Each campsite offer a private experience. No two sites are alike. There is plenty of space between you and the next site. At night, you won't even know anyone is around. All campsites that are large enough for multiple tents.. All sites have firepits, the first bundle of wood is supplied at check-in, more can be purchased. There are out-houses available. There is an outside shower for use during the warm months at the Office.

The camp sites are laid out to give visitors the most privacy possible. Come here to relax, meditate, hike, fish, or just sit. It's your choice. My hope is that those of us who come here have this "Common Ground Idea” that binds us all.

Once parked, and checked in at the Office, you will walk to your camp site. As previously mentioned, there will be firewood at your site, more can be purchased. There is abundant kindling to pick up.

Children 5 and under are free.

We here at 1855 Campground live by "Leave No Trace Principles." .......Special Notice.....Due to Covid 19 outbreak, we are closed to the public until further notice......we will continue to monitor this and reopen as soon as we safely can. Thanks for your understanding.
