What an amazing place to visit & have a holiday. Many interesting things around the camp ground. Awesome hosts who went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The camp ground was beautiful with many spots to visit, wish we could’ve stayed longer! 10/10
Such a great place to stay! Johnnie & his wife were so warm and welcoming and took extra steps to make sure we were comfortable when we arrived. The land is beautiful and well looked after; we enjoyed a campfire and the fireflies when we arrived and took a short hike around part of the property the next morning to visit a nearby stream and walk through the forest. The cabin we stayed in was very clean & cozy and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Wish we could have stayed longer. I hope to visit again in the near future!
I cannot say enough about the kindness and generosity that johnnie showed my girlfriend and I on our camping trip. We decided to get out of town spare of the moment on monday evening and I found white bluff on hipcamp. We showed up after dark and johnnie and Terry had built a fire for us. Johnnie offered to show us around in the morning. When we woke up Johnnie made us coffee and even shared a bit of deer sausage with us. The day just got better and better. I would say that southern hospitality is alive and well in white bluff, Mississippi. We are definitely going back and we've made a good friend out of it. I highly recommend camping at white bluff.
I had an amazing experience at White Bluff Campground, all thanks to Johnnie. Words cannot describe how great of a guy Johnnie is. When I first arrived I was greeted at the front entrance by Johnnie in his UTV with another couple. I followed him into the campground and hopped in to the vehicle with them and was given a tour of the property. He showed us where all of the best sites were and gave us a tour of the 3 cabins that were also available. I had arrived after some pretty heavy rains had swept through the area so the river was very high and not really accessible. Johnnie let me choose where I wanted to set up camp for 2 nights. I ended up picking the site across from the 2 unoccupied cabins since it was right next to a nice creek and had a large fire pit.
I was hoping to do some fishing while I was camping and the river was not an option at the time, but luckily Johnnie has access to a private 100 acre pond not far from the campsite which is loaded with bass, crappie, bream, perch and more. We drove around the lake and fished from shore a bit until the rain forced us to pack up. Johnnie made arrangements with one of his buddies to take me out again on the lake but on a boat which was amazing. We hauled in loads of fish. I can't thank him enough for going out of his way to make that happen.
While back at the campground Johnnie came around every once in a while to see if I needed anything and to make sure I was comfortable. Showers and bathrooms were available on the grounds which was great after a hot day in the sun. The property the campground is on is well over 200 acres and there is plenty of room for activities. I even pedaled my mountain bike around the grounds a bit. There is no light pollution in the area so if you are lucky enough to have clear nights the stars are out in abundance.
If I had more thumbs I would give more than 2 thumbs up. Overall great experience. It was super quiet and a very peaceful place which is exactly what I look for in a campsite. Johnnie was an amazing host and is the nicest guy in the world. If I am ever back in the area I will not hesitate to camp here again. Thanks Johnnie for everything!
Loved camping here! Beautiful land and great trails for mudding or atvs. There was a nice sand bar on the property too. The campsite was well kept and the owners are super friendly! Everyone was really nice and helpful. We arrived late and they were very flexible and met us at the entrance since we arrived after dark. They showed us to our site and helped us set up in the dark. We had two dogs with us and it was great, they were able to run around off leash and there was plenty of space. Restrooms were great with working plumbing and hot water. Definitely recommend visiting this hidden gem!
Secluded camping on the sandy bank of the Pearl River. The hosts are extremely helpful and welcoming, touring us around the property in a 4x4 and even helping to schlep our gear to the site. Not too buggy by the river, and extremely relaxing to camp and swim. Would definitely return.
Primitive camping at its best!!!
For those wanting a safe, wonderful place to camp, I highly recommend White Bluff Primitive Camp. I did a solo primitive camping trip. Johnnie was very friendly and attentive. He would check on my twice a day, found my interests and recommended things to do and how to go about doing it. Johnnie found out I liked to fish and set up a morning fishing trip with a local 80 yr old fishing enthusiast. The trip was great. I was also given access to the beautiful lake where I returned the following morning to fish again!! You can drive your truck all the way around the lake and fish from a couple of docks. I highly recommend this camping site.
Great weekend getaway
Johnnie was very accommodating. One part of our group got there after dark and a good bit later than expected. Instead of trying to get the truck down the trail and set up camp in the dark, Johnnie offered a cabin for them until morning when they could set up camp. He showed us around the property and showed us the river and creeks that run through the property and the various trails. We were able to ride some small trails and cruise the sandbar with our ATV which was a lot of fun. Johnnie even brought us fire wood one evening. The river was cool and a welcoming retreat from the sun. We hung on the sandbar most of the time, swam in the river, and cooked dinner right on the shore over an open fire. We were the only ones out there at that time and it was great. We also did a little hiking around the property. One thing I really liked about the property was we could get our four wheel drive trucks fairly close to the river. Since our tents were truck bed tents, this made it fairly easy to hang out on the sandbar during the day and be able to be close to our vehicle with our tents and other supplies. I would definitely recommend this camp to anyone who wants to be able to swim in the river, ride ATV's and tests your vehicles offroad abilities, have a campfire on the river bank, and have total privacy. It was a beautiful and memorable camping trip.
This was a great camp experience! Our host was so kind and thoughtful, he made us a fire when we were coming in late. Would absolutely recommend a stay here. Also so close to Red Bluff (less than 10 minutes). The beach area was also a nice walk away from where we stayed.
