Camp Topisaw

9 sites ¡ Tents95 acres ¡ Summit, MS
95 acres on the beautiful Topisaw Creek. Here we've raised 5 kids and a multitude of dogs, cats and chickens and a small herd of pineywoods cattle. The woods are quiet and undisturbed , harboring native species like jack in the pulpit, trillium and Florida anise. The spring-fed (and thus always refreshing!) Topisaw Creek forms the eastern border of our property, so plan to spend time on the sandy beaches and rock bars soaking up the sun or hunting for rocks and fossils (petrified wood and arrowheads have been found here). Many folks also enjoy a leisurely float down the creek in inner tubes ('tubing') or in a kayak. (Please note that after heavy rains the creek rises to epic heights and is too dangerous to navigate.) Little to no light pollution makes for amazing stargazing!

About

If you’re curious about how the “Magnolia State” got its name, head on over to Percy Quin State Park. You’ll enjoy mesmerizing vistas of loblolly pines, stately magnolia trees, rolling hills, and spectacular seasonal flowers. What’s more, this park provides an abundance of outdoor activities such as boating and fishing on Lake Tangipahoa, southern style barbecues and picnics, swimming in the pool, hitting the links on the golf course, or hell, you can even get hitched at the Wayside Chapel! Top it all off with some authentic camping or renting your own cabin, and toasting some marshmallows by the fire, and you’ve found yourself the perfect long weekend.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Percy Quin State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural beauty is at its peak.
