Great COVID-19 getaway! But PLEASE do NOT come if you are showing symptoms as I am in the high risk category. I am keeping guests out of the main house during these trying times but can get you potable water from the kitchen sink.
This is NOT a campground! This is "camping in my garden" with lots of privacy. Consider this a RUSTIC Camping Experience (it is priced as a wooden tent) and you will be pleased! It sleeps up to 5 adults. First review for the Garden Cottage "Jackie - Whispering Winds was WONDERFUL! We stayed in the garden cottage, which had a great setup: beds, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, etc. This turned out to be providential, as it rained the whole weekend. BUT that didn't stop me and my boys from having fun. We enjoyed meeting all of Bev's animals (the goats, the horse, the donkey, the doves, the ducks, a chicken, koi, three cats and a dog). My kiddos even helped Bev with some of the farm chores--they loved feeding the animals. And at night--oh, the night! Fireflies EVERYWHERE. It was truly magical. The location is great, too, as it's near Mystery Cave State Park. We had access to a fire ring, indoor and outdoor toilets, hammocks, a tree fort, a propane grill, a charcoal grill...everything, and I mean EVERYTHING you could possibly need. If you are considering staying at Bev's farm, DO IT. I promise you will have a wonderful, relaxing time." This review is from a CAMPER who stayed in the Garden Cottage.Throughout Europe it is common to have a garden in the country where you can stay the weekend by building a tiny cottage to sleep in. This concept is what has inspired our Garden Cottage! Akin to the State Park cabins, mattresses are provided, a camp cot and flip chair also, so just bring your own sleeping bags - I do have bedding and extra sleeping bags for $5 extra per bed, must request when you book it. But you get so much more than a State Park cabin which offers only lights. You get a mini fridge, microwave and coffee pot! I have a charcoal grill in the outside cooking area and even a rocket stove and utensils! There is a communal campfire ring just 100' from the Cottage and we are looking at installing a mini one there. Over time we hope to create a completely edible landscape within the Garden Cottage yard - even the flowers will be edible - which is set in the main garden area. We hope to feature fun and inspirational ways to garden! An outdoor Bath House with solar shower is in the works! The Garden Cottage has a fenced yard and is next to the on-premises Dog Park. You have the entire 3 acre hobby farm to play in which includes children's play areas, a stocked trout stream, and nature trail.WIFI at main house and extends to the back retaining wall/deck.There is a pit toilet (please do NOT throw anything in the toilet except your waste and toilet paper) near the Garden Cottage just like in the State Parks (over our septic system), but I also have a lovely guest bathroom in the house. Showers are $3 extra with YOUR towels or $5 with OUR towels. Please leave the Garden Cottage and grounds as you found it - CLEAN - or there is a $30 cleaning fee. $5 extra per pet per night. This little Garden Cottage is way more secure and water tight than a tent. It has withstood 3' of snow on the roof last winter, 75 mph winds, and torrential rains remaining dry inside. And no condensation dripping on you like in a tent. Plus it has a door with a latch and "lock". And it is built out of pallets!!! :-D Misc. people have complained if I fog it for insects, hence the mosquito netting, but you are welcome to bring bug spray/fogger if you like. We have flies on a farm and sometimes they can be intense. This is NOT a sealed cottage, it is a loosely put together Garden Cottage. I do not dust it, I don't spend a lot of time trying to clean it, it is a garden shed, more secure than a tent but still just a functional little building to stay out of the weather. Look at your price point and then what your expectations are. You will pay $75 for a state park cabin and that is not dusted and spotless when you enter it and you do not have a fridge, microwave, coffee pot and TV to use. Those who appreciate the cottage are CAMPERS! This is a work in progress so expect changes and upgrades as we go - large plug in pot to make hot water, lamp, fairy lights inside and out, children's books, two box fans, box of games with more games at the house, first aid kit, smoke alarm, wooden camp pantry, picnic basket with plates, bowls, etc. Vinyl flooring is on my wish list! And I am always open to customer suggestions on layout, design, etc. - just took a customer's suggestion to eliminate one futon to open up the space and put in two camp cots. I will try to update the pics as we refine the Garden Cottage. And if you have something you no longer use and think it would be perfect for this space, contact me, I do trade! :-D
Condition of property is subject to storms and flooding. Critters do die and some get eaten by predators. Flooding happens but it doesn't reach the Garden Cottage. Stocked trout stream within 100' - browns and rainbows. There are two mama birdies nesting on the outside of the Garden Cottage and the babies wake up at dawn and sleep at sunset, but that is nature up close! :-D

Beverly was a great host and has such a beautiful garden. She was very helpful getting us settled in and made sure we had everything we needed. There were even fresh veggies we could pick to add to our meals. The goats, cats, ducks, all the animals were adorable to be around. I only wished I had brought my dogs with to enjoy the great dog park and open spaces. We will definitely be back and with our dogs. Thank you!
The garden cottage was a perfect stay for my husband, one year old and I! There was enough room for a pack and play and it fit perfectly. There was a bug magnetic screen door and it really kept the bugs out, although I never saw any mosquitos at all really! It’s was really nice to have a flushing toilet steps away too and a place to wash hands. This is our second stay with Bev and we enjoyed every minute of it.
We camped with our dog on Beverly's beautiful property and it was awesome! We hadn't looked at the forecast but luckily Beverly had; she gave us a tour of all the camping options and explained which we'd stay driest at. We chose the most private and most likely to get wet - and it was great! Really nice to have a spot for our dog to run free and meet the goats without being able to chase them (the dog park). We had a wonderful stay and would love to return!
